Sue Naegle, entertainment president at HBO, is stepping down after five years on the job, although she won’t be going very far. Naegle plans to set up a production company and will continue to work with HBO under a new multiyear first-look deal with the network. She had been president since 2008.
NBCUniversal has promoted Adam Stotsky to president of Esquire Network, which launched this week. Stotsky had been general manager at the cable network.
Former “Dancing with the Stars” dancer Julianne Hough is returning to the show as a guest host, appearing on the Oct. 7 episode. Hough, who won two seasons of “Stars” as a pro, will step in for Len Goodman as he judges the UK’s “Strictly Come Dancing.”
CBS has promoted Mitch Graham to vice president of alternative programming, reporting to executive vice president Chris Castallo. Graham previously worked on the publicity side at CBS for shows including “The Amazing Race” and “Under the Dome.”
CBS has signed actor Mike Colter to guest on “Criminal Minds,” playing a man who tries to save a sniper target in the Oct. 9 episode. Colter is no stranger to CBS. He previously had a recurring role on “The Good Wife.”
Actress Vanessa Redgrave has joined the cast of ABC’s upcoming limited series “Black Box,” playing the psychiatrist of Kelly Reilly’s character. Redgrave has most recently appeared in PBS’s “Call the Midwife” and USA’s “Political Animals.”
NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt has extended his deal with the network, which will keep him there until at least 2017. Greenblatt has been with the network since 2011.
Digital agency Big Spaceship has named Tony Clement strategy director as well as head of data and analytics. Clement, who will report to vice president of brand strategy Mark Pollard, was previously at TBG Digital in the UK.
Digital marketing technology company 24/7 Media has brought in Matt Haies, naming him vice president and general counsel. Haies was previously vice president of privacy strategy at AppNexus.
Bernadette Tuazon has been named senior photo editor at CNN Digital, putting her in charge of the CNN Photos blog. Tuazon previously held a number of positions at the Associated Press, including international photo editor and senior photo editor.
LiveU, which handles mobile video technology, has made four hires, including Bruce Levine as director of North American broadcast sales. He has previously held positions at ChyronHego, Scopus, Autocue and Avid. The company has also added three to its accounts team, naming Bill Hendler enterprise account executive, Kurt Caruthers account manager for the Midwest region, and Ryad Kahale account manager for the Southeast.
SpinMedia has named Dale Strang chief executive officer, replacing the departed Steve Hansen. Strang was previously general manager at Vibe magazine, which SpinMedia plans to bring back as a quarterly.
Meredith Corp. has promoted Jessie Price to editor in chief at EatingWell magazine, reporting to women’s lifestyle group president Tom Witschi. Price has been with the magazine since 2003.
Sam Youngman has joined The Lexington Herald-Leader as a political reporter, effective on Sept. 30. Youngman joins from Reuters, where he covered Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign.
