Actress and singer Cher is giving reality TV a shot. She has joined NBC’s “The Voice” for its upcoming fifth season as an adviser working with judge Blake Shelton’s team. Also joining as advisers this season are Ed Sheeran (working with Christina Aguilera), Ryan Tedder (Adam Levine) and Miguel (CeeLo Green).
Luz Maria Doria has been promoted to vice president at Univision, in addition to her role as executive producer of “Despierta America.” Doria has been with the morning news/talk show for 10 years.
Actors Candice Bergen and Charles Grodin have joined the cast of NBC’s upcoming comedy “The Michael J. Fox Show,” playing the parents of the titular actor. The two will first appear as guest stars, although they could be upgraded to recurring roles.
ABC has added Ravi Patel to the cast of its new comedy “Super Fun Night,” which stars Rebel Wilson. Patel will have a recurring role as an underachieving lawyer who works with Wilson’s character. He appeared on “The New Normal” last season.
NBC has added “Sex and the City’s” Cynthia Nixon to the cast of “Hannibal” for its second season, in a recurring role as the boss of Laurence Fishburne’s character. Nixon most recently appeared in the British miniseries “World Without End.”
Former “Saturday Night Live” head writer Tina Fey is returning to the late-night sketch show, hosting its season premiere on Sept. 28 with musical guests Arcade Fire. Miley Cyrus will host and serve as musical guest on Oct. 5, with Bruce Willis hosting with musical guest Katy Perry on Oct. 12.
Yahoo News has named Megan Liberman editor in chief, in charge of original reporting, social newsgathering, video and coverage of live events. Liberman joins from The New York Times, where she was deputy news editor.
Jim VandeHei has been named president at Capital New York, a news web site recently acquired by Politico publisher Robert Allbritton. VandeHei will also continue as executive editor at Politico, which he co-founded.
Active Interest Media has named Keith Cunningham Detroit sales manager, working across the company’s magazines. Cunningham has experience in the area–he was previously Detroit manager at WebMD.
Burton Jablin has been promoted to president at Scripps Networks Interactive, taking over for the retiring John Lansing. Jablin had been president of the company’s home category; Lansing will remain on as a consultant.
Actor Greg Germann has been added to the cast of Lifetime’s drama pilot “HR,” joining Alicia Silverstone in the cast. Germann will play the boss of Silverstone’s character, who is the director of human relations at a large company. He’s best known for his role on “Ally McBeal.”
Robin Quivers, the longtime co-host to radio personality Howard Stern, is now cancer-free more than a year after having a tumor removed from her bladder, she said on the air Monday morning. Quivers had been broadcasting from her home and missed only two shows during her 15-month battle with the disease.
