Olympic swimming star Ryan Lochte has booked another TV gig, a cameo appearance in the final season of NBC's "30 Rock," according to New York magazine's The Cut. Last month Lochte filmed a guest appearance on CW's "90210."
NBC has added Tone Bell to the cast of "Whitney" for the upcoming second season, playing a bartender. Bell has previously appeared in VH1's "Single Ladies."
Longtime NBC newsman Tom Brokaw was hospitalized on Thursday while covering the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, N.C., after feeling light-headed. Brokaw later said he was fine, tweeting, "All is well Early AM I mistakenly took a half dose of Ambien and made less sense than usual. Made a better comeback than Giants."
MEC has named Pele Cortizo-Burgess global director of integrated planning, based in the agency's New York office and reporting to global chief strategy officer Mel Varley. Cortizo-Burgess joins from Grey North America, where he was chief strategy officer.
Time Inc. has promoted Entertainment Weekly account director Lauren Newman, naming her corporate sales director for Time Inc. Branded Solutions. Before she joined Time Inc. Newman was advertising director at freshHome magazine.
Debra Birnbaum, editor in chief of TV Guide, is adding another title. She’ll become president of the magazine, a position that had been open for quite some time.
Alpha Media Group has named Dan Bova chief content officer at Maxim, effective immediately. Bova became editor in chief of the title earlier this year, and before that he was executive editor.
Bonnier Corp. has promoted Anthony Licata to editorial director of its men's group, which includes Popular Science, Cycle World, Popular Photography and American Photo. Licata was previously editorial director for Bonnier's outdoor titles Field & Stream and Outdoor Life.
Roger Guillen has joined Oxygen Media as senior vice president and creative director, reporting to senior vice president of marketing and brand strategy Jane Olson. Guillen had been NBC Sports' vice president and creative director for the London Olympics.
Amanda Schull has joined USA's "Suits" in a recurring role, playing an assistant district attorney. Schull most recently appeared on "Pretty Little Liars" and will also appear in an episode of CBS's upcoming drama "Vegas."
ESPN has brought in former football player Brian Dawkins as an analyst, beginning on Sept. 13 on the show "Audibles." Dawkins will also make appearances on "SportsCenter," "NFL Live" and "NFL32."
Not to be outdone, NFL Network has signed a former NFL player of its own, naming quarterback Donovan McNabb an analyst. McNabb will appear on the Friday night program "Playbook" with Sterling Sharpe and Brian Baldinger.
National Public Radio has made two promotions, naming Sean Carberry Kabul correspondent and Carrie Kahn Mexico City correspondent. Carberry had been a foreign desk producer, while Kahn was a correspondent at NPR West.
