Actress Lisa Kudrow has joined the cast of ABC’s “Scandal” for its third season, in a recurring role as a politician. Kudrow appeared on NBC’s “Friends” for 10 seasons, and more recently she has starred in “Web Therapy.”
Singer Josh Groban has signed on to guest on CBS’s upcoming comedy “The Crazy Ones,” playing a guy with a crush on Sarah Michelle Gellar’s character. Groban has previously made appearances on “Glee,” “The Office” and “CSI: NY.”
David Frost, the longtime British broadcaster who famously got former president Richard Nixon to apologize to the American people, died over the weekend at age 74 after suffering a heart attack. Frost has most recently been working with Al Jazeera English.
Starcom USA has named Daniel Vassallo vice president and digital director, reporting to senior vice president and director Lily Chakrabarty. Vassallo was previously vice president of performance media at JAR Group.
David&Goliath has named Kingsley Taylor director of new business, taking over for the departed Claudia Caplan. Taylor was most recently global business director at Ogilvy & Mather in Los Angeles.
Discovery Channel has promoted Sean Boyle to vice president of development, based in the network’s Los Angeles office. Boyle joined Discovery in 2011, and before that he was at VH1.
Al Jazeera America has named Mark Coatney senior vice president of digital media, a new position at the network. Coatney was most recently media director at Tumblr.
Cristina Dinozo has joined the question-answer web site Answers, becoming its new head of corporate communications. Dinozo had been vice president of communications platforms at The Association of Magazine Media.
Neil Nagraj is moving from one rival newspaper to another. He has joined The New York Post, becoming the paper’s new web editor. Nagraj was previously senior editor for online news at The New York Daily News.
The Good Housekeeping Research Institute has made two new additions, naming Gordon Grajek test engineer for the consumer electronics and engineering lab and Betty Gold an editorial assistant. Grajek joins from Pratt and Whitney, while Gold had been working as a freelancer.
