Harry Connick Jr. is the latest to emerge in Fox’s search for a third judge for the upcoming season of “American Idol.” The singer is reportedly on the network’s shortlist of candidates to join the panel alongside Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban, according to Deadline. Connick has previously appeared on “Idol” a number of times as a guest mentor.
Telemundo has made a pair of moves, hiring Latha Sarathy as vice president for Telemundo Media Digital Research and promoting Yatisha Bothwell to vice president of insights and strategy. Sarathy joins from Radio One Digital, while Bothwell had been director of consumer insights.
ABC News is moving Middle East correspondent Alexander Marquardt to Beirut, where it has reopened a news bureau. Peter Jennings opened the network’s first Beirut bureau 45 years ago, but it closed down in the early 1990s.
Former “Wonder Woman” actress Lynda Carter is joining CBS’s “Two and a Half Men” this season, playing a version of herself. Carter starred in “Wonder Woman” from 1975 to 1979.
Beck Bennett, the actor who appears in AT&T’s commercials with groups of kids, is joining the cast of NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” next season. One of the show’s writers, Michael Patrick O’Brien, will also step in front of the camera, according to Deadline. Others rumored to be joining the sketch comedy show include John Milhiser, Noël Wells and Kyle Mooney.
Bruce Dunning, a former correspondent at CBS News, died earlier this week at age 73 of injuries suffered in a fall. Dunning is best known for a 1975 report about a World Airways jet that attempted to save refugees in Da Nang, Vietnam. The report was recently named one of Columbia University Journalism School’s 100 greatest stories.
James McKenna has joined TBWA’s Digital Arts Network in Los Angeles, becoming a creative director. McKenna previously worked with the Google account at 72andSunny.
Robert Liuag has been named vice president of research at HGTV and DIY Network, reporting to the networks’ senior vice president of marketing and creative services, Denise Conroy. Liuag joins from NFL Network, where he was head of research.
WGN America has named Tom Huffman senior vice president of unscripted programming, working with both WGN America and Tribune Studios. Huffman had been vice president of development and production at VH1.
Actress Siena Goines has joined an upcoming HBO comedy pilot from Lorne Michaels, about a group of reporters working in Atlanta. Michaels will produce the project, which also stars writers and producers Diallo Riddle and Bashir Salahuddin.
Showtime has added four to the cast of its drama pilot “The Affair,” including former “Fringe” star Joshua Jackson. Other cast members include Maura Tierney, Ruth Wilson and Dominic West.
Twitter has named Nathan Hubbard head of commerce, in charge of helping retailers use the social media platform. Hubbard is a former chief executive officer at Ticketmaster.
