Fox has found a third judge for the upcoming season of “American Idol.” Music producer Dr. Luke has signed on as a judge, according to E! News, joining Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez on the panel. Black Eyed Peas front man will.i.am reportedly turned down the judging spot. Fox has not commented on whether Dr. Luke will join the panel.
Rebecca Budig has been named co-host of “The Better Show,” a syndicated lifestyle TV show. Budig appeared on ABC’s “All My Children” from 1999 to 2011, and she has also guested on “Castle” and “How I Met Your Mother.”
Fox has promoted Michael Ian Black to a series regular on its new comedy “Us & Them,” playing the uncle of Alexis Bledel’s character. Black appeared in the show’s pilot as a guest star.
Actor Stephen Moyer has joined NBC’s “Sound of Music,” a live holiday special airing on Dec. 5. Moyer will star opposite country singer Carrie Underwood in the project, based on the original 1959 Broadway production.
NBC has added Sophia Bush and Patrick Flueger to the cast of “Chicago PD,” its upcoming spinoff of “Chicago Fire.” Bush will play a member of the investigative unit, while Flueger will play a rookie cop.
Lew Wood, a former news anchor on NBC’s “Today,” died last week of kidney failure at age 84. Before his yearlong stint at “Today,” Wood was an anchor at New York’s WNBC. Following “Today” he worked in public relations.
Antony Young has been named president at Water Cooler Group, a new company that will serve as parent to the agencies Media Storm, Bolt, Maude and Hip Genius. Young is a former chief executive officer at Mindshare North America.
Leo Burnett has named Steve Chavez chief creative officer, working in the agency’s Detroit office. Chavez had been global executive creative director for the agency’s GM business.
New York agency gyro has brought in Patrick O’Hara as chief strategy officer, a newly created position. O’Hara was previously founder of the New York firm Table Consulting.
Allison Hartsoe has been named group director of digital intelligence at Cardinal Path, a digital analytics firm. Hartsoe was previously vice president of analytics at Semphonic.
Former James Bond actor Timothy Dalton has been added to Showtime’s upcoming drama “Penny Dreadful,” joining Josh Hartnett and Eva Green in the cast. Dalton’s most recent TV role was on NBC’s “Chuck.”
