Raycom Media has promoted Ken Reiner to vice president of programming, effective Sept. 1. Reiner had been corporate director of programming.
Univision Communications has made two promotions, naming Carlos Bardasano vice president of original content and Andrés Mendoza vice president of programming and strategy for UniMás. Bardasano had been in charge of programming and content at UniMás, while Mendoza had been working on cross-platform programming.
TV ad targeting company Simulmedia has named Jayme Beth Frieder senior director of sales, a newly created position. Frieder was previously director of the advertiser solutions group at Collective.
Radio personality Stephanie Himonidis has joined Telemundo’s upcoming reality music competition “Yo Soy el Artista” as a judge, joining Luis Fonsi, Olga Tañon and Mario Quintero Lara. Himonidis hosts a show on the Los Angeles station 97.9-FM La Raza.
Actress Adrianne Palicki will guest on the coming season of ABC’s “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” playing the character known as Mockingbird. Palicki has previously appeared on “About a Boy” and “Friday Night Lights.”
ABC News anchor Elizabeth Vargas checked back into a recovery center to treat her alcoholism while on vacation over the weekend, following a previous stint in rehab in November 2013. In a statement Vargas said, “As so many other recovering alcoholics know, overcoming the disease can be a long and incredibly difficult process. I feel I have let myself, my co-workers and most importantly my family down and for that I am ashamed and sorry.”
Julie Levin has joined Publicis Worldwide North America as chief marketing officer, reporting to chief executive officer Andrew Bruce. Levin was previously at The Martin Agency, and before that she was at BBH in New York.
The Weather Channel has named Nora Zimmett senior vice president of live programming, based in the network’s Atlanta office. Zimmett joins from CNN, where she was co-creator and executive producer of “New Day Weekend” and “Smerconish.”
Music Choice has promoted Mike Corry to senior vice president of product and engineering, a new position at the network. Corry was most recently director of advertising sales.
Alan Ives has been named vice president of sales and business development for North America at wywy, a cross-screen ad tracking company. Ives has previously held positions at ABC, Time, Inc., CBS and MSNBC Interactive.
Digital media technology company Yieldbot has brought in Scott Portugal, naming him general manager of its publisher platform. Portugal was previously senior vice president of programmatic and strategic alliances at PulsePoint.
