“The X Factor” judge Demi Lovato is increasing her visibility at Fox. The singer has joined the cast of “Glee” for its upcoming fifth season, in a recurring role as a struggling artist. Lovato’s most recent regular TV acting role was on Disney Channel’s “Sonny with a Chance.”
Former “Saturday Night Live” cast member Rachel Dratch is set to guest on ABC’s “The Middle” next season, playing a school principal. Dratch currently voices a character on the kids show “Fish Hooks.”
Actress Valerie Cruz has joined the cast of Fox’s “The Following,” playing a New York police detective. Cruz has previously appeared on “Dexter,” “True Blood” and “Homeland.”
Arnold Worldwide has named Corey Mitchell president of its New York operations, and he will also join the agency’s global executive committee. Mitchell has previously held positions at MRM Worldwide and TBWA\Chiat\Day.
MEC has made a number of moves, including promoting Rick Acampora to president of client services for North America; Eamonn Store to president of agency development; Kristine Segrist to global client lead and global digital product development director; and Ming Linsley to social practice lead. The media agency has also made four hires: Mark Jones as president of global solutions, and Scott D. Schwartz, Michael Levy and Tej Desai as managing partners. Jones joins from Viacom, Schwartz from MediaVest, Levy from UM/J3, and Desai from Initiative.
Ignition has brought in John Teter, naming him the agency’s new global creative director. Teter was previously vice president and creative director at OgilvyAction.
Marshall Manson has been named managing director for Europe, Africa and the Middle East at Social@Ogilvy, reporting to Ogilvy PR EAME chief executive Stuart Smith. Manson joins from Edelman, where he was digital managing director for EMEA.
Bravo Media has made two hires, naming Leslie Farrell and Jeff Oliver vice presidents of current production. Farrell has produced and directed documentaries for more than 20 years, and Oliver is a former production executive at Food Network.
Adult Swim has promoted Jason DeMarco to vice president and creative director for on-air, reporting to executive vice president Mike Lazzo. DeMarco was most recently vice president of marketing and promotions for both Cartoon Network and Adult Swim.
Actor Lee Thompson Young, who most recently appeared in TNT’s “Rizzoli & Isles, was found dead Monday morning at age 29 from an apparent suicide, according to The Wrap. For three years Young starred in the old Disney Channel show “The Famous Jett Jackson,” playing a celebrity teen. In between acting roles he graduated from the School of Cinematic Arts at USC.
Radio company Dial Global has named Lee Napier regional affiliate manager, working with the prep services division. Napier was most recently a manager at 60 Second Music.
Deborah Esayian has been promoted to chief revenue officer at Marketron, which produces business software for the media industry. Esayian is also co-president of Marketron Interactive.
