There will be a mini-“American Idol” reunion at CBS’s upcoming special “Fashion Rocks.” Former “Idol” contestant Jennifer Hudson has been added to the list of performers, reuniting her with the special’s host–and “Idol” host–Ryan Seacrest. Pop band Magic has also been added to the lineup, joining previously announced acts Afrojack, The Band Perry, Duran Duran, KISS, Jennifer Lopez, Miranda Lambert, Nico & Vinz, Rita Ora, Pitbull and Usher.
Telemundo Station Group has brought in Matt Boxer, naming him vice president of business development. He had been managing director for business development at Meredith Xcelerated Marketing. Telemundo Station Group has also made a pair of promotions, naming Joe Napolitano vice president of its national sales offices and Jenney Valverde vice president of sales marketing. Napolitano had been in charge of the East Coast sales offices, while Valverde was senior director of sales marketing.
Actress Yeardley Smith will guest on the season premiere of ABC’s “Revenge,” playing a patient at a mental institution. Smith also voices Lisa on Fox’s “The Simpsons.”
TVGN has made two moves, including hiring Jessie Surovell as vice president of development. Surovell was previously executive director of development at Shed Media U.S. TVGN has also promoted Kristan Giordano, moving her from executive producer to vice president of original programming.
E! has added former “Dynasty” actress Joan Collins to the cast of its upcoming scripted series “The Royals,” playing the mother of Elizabeth Hurley’s character. Collins’ most recent TV role was on “Happily Divorced.”
Westwood One has named George King vice president of programming for network formats, specifically the company’s 24-hour country stations. King joins from Townsquare Media, where he was regional operations manager and Western region brand leader.
Jeff Williams has been promoted to managing partner at Tennis Media Co., which publishes Tennis magazine and Tennis.com. Williams had been group publisher at the company.
Alison DeBenedictis has been named executive creative director at Hearst Men’s Group, which includes Car and Driver, Esquire, Popular Mechanics and Road & Track. DeBenedictis had been senior art director at Quidsi.
Dallas Morning News editor Bob Mong plans to leave the newspaper sometime next year, and he’s already helping search for his successor. Mong has been with the paper for 35 years.
Maria Carrillo, managing editor at The Virginian-Pilot, is leaving her position to become senior editor for Sunday and enterprise at The Houston Chronicle. Carrillo’s last day at The Virginian-Pilot will be Aug. 29.
Mobile advertising technology company LoopMe has added Peter O’Mara-Kane to its staff, naming him vice president of sales. O’Mara-Kane was previously head of agency sales at Millennial Media.
