Actress Portia de Rossi will appear on ABC’s drama “Scandal” next season, in a guest role that’s being kept secret for the time being. De Rossi’s significant other, Ellen DeGeneres, broke the news on Twitter, writing, “So annoying when people brag on twitter & that’s why I’m not tweeting that Portia just signed on to do a top secret arc on ‘Scandal’. Oops.” The actress most recently appeared on Netflix’s revival of “Arrested Development.”
CBS News has promoted Danna Castiglia to vice president of business development. She previously served as vice president of corporate development for CBS, which she joined in 1997 as a senior financial analyst.
Katz Broadcasting has named Bill Cox senior vice president of programming for its upcoming male-focused digital network Grit, as well as Walter Naar vice president of programming for the female-focused Escape. Both Cox and Naar previously worked at Turner.
ABC has added Michelle Fairley to the cast of “Resurrection” for the show’s second season, in a recurring role as the matriarch of the Langston family. Fairley most recently appeared on “24: Live Another Day,” and before that she was on “Game of Thrones.”
CBS’s daytime soap “The Young and the Restless” will get a blast from the past this September. Former cast member Shemar Moore, who now stars on “Criminal Minds,” is scheduled to appear in two episodes of the soap this fall, appearing on Sept. 10 and Sept. 11. Moore had a role on the show from 1994 to 2002, and again in 2004 and 2005.
Actress Lucy Lawless has joined ABC’s “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” for next season, although there’s no word yet on the character she’ll play. The former “Xena: Warrior Princess” star has most recently appeared on “Parks and Recreation.”
Ad agency mcgarrybowen has brought in Shoshana Winter, naming her executive planning director. Winter was previously senior vice president of strategy and planning at iCrossing.
National Geographic Channel has named Tim Pastore president of original programming and production, effective Aug. 18. Pastore had been executive vice president of production and development for National Geographic Studios.
The cast of Netflix’s hit “Orange is the New Black” is set to make its first joint appearance on a late-night talk show. Taylor Schilling, Laverne Cox, Uzo Aduba, Kate Mulgrew, Natasha Lyonne and Jason Biggs will visit TBS’s “Conan” on Aug. 4. The show has previously welcomed the casts of “The Walking Dead” and “Breaking Bad.”
Billboard magazine has brought in Nick Catucci as features editor, effective Aug. 1. Catucci will join from Entertainment Weekly, where he was most recently chief music critic.
Paul Cushman has been named chief revenue officer at Dstillery, an advertising technology company. Cushman was previously vice president of sales and business development for Drawbridge.
