Media agency MEC has named Alastair Taylor senior vice president and managing partner for Canada, effective immediately. Taylor joins from Carat Toronto, where he was vice president and managing director.
New York digital agency Organic has named David Shulman chief executive officer, replacing Marita Scarfi beginning on Aug. 1. Shulman was previously president at Wunderman.
Crispin Porter + Bogusky has made a pair of promotions, naming Aymi Beltramo and Aaron Kovan executive integrated producers. Beltramo will be based in the agency's office in Los Angeles, Kovan in Boulder, Colo.
Mark Sloan has joined Anomaly in Amsterdam, becoming executive creative director. Sloan was most recently at TBWA/Media Arts Lab in Los Angeles, and before that he was at Wieden + Kennedy Amsterdam.
Leo Burnett has made two additions in its Argentina office, naming Carmelo Maselli and Luis Sanchez Zinny general creative directors. Both were previously at BBDO in Argentina.
Hearst Newspapers has made a handful of moves, including naming David McCumber Washington bureau chief. McCumber replaces Richard Dunham, who will stay on as a full-time writer reporting to McCumber. Hearst has also named Barbara T. Roessner editor of its Connecticut newspapers, following a stint as a communications consultant.
Here Media has made three promotions, naming Joe Landry executive vice president of publishing, Joe Valentino senior vice president and group publisher for integrated sales, and Greg Brossia vice president and publisher of Out. Landry was previously senior vice president and group publisher for ad sales and integrated marketing, while Valentino was vice president and associate publisher and Brossia was Out associate publisher.
"MasterChef" is the rare broadcast show this summer seeing ratings gains rather than declines, and Fox has rewarded the Gordon Ramsay cooking show with a fourth season. The network renewed the program during yesterday's Television Critics Association tour stop, noting that its adults 18-49 ratings are up 8 percent this year. It's up 9 percent in total viewers. "MasterChef" airs Monday and Tuesday nights at 9 p.m.
PBS has promoted Raney Aronson, naming her deputy executive producer of "Frontline." Aronson has written and produced a number of programs for "Frontline," and she became a part of the staff in 2007 as senior producer.
Mindy Kaling has her own comedy on Fox premiering this fall, but she's not leaving NBC's "The Office" quite yet. Kaling told TV critics yesterday that she will appear in the season premiere and probably one other episode of "The Office" next season, wrapping up her role as Kelly Kapoor. The actress talked to critics at an event for her upcoming show, "The Mindy Project," which will bow online before it comes to television.
Zooey Deschanel is getting a new love interest on "New Girl" this fall. David Walton is joining the show in a recurring role starting in the season premiere. He last appeared on NBC's shortlived sitcom "Bent." Niecy Nash and Leslie Mann have also signed to make guest appearances on the show this season.
Actress Clea Duvall is set to appear in multiple episodes of the upcoming second season of FX's "American Horror Story," which premieres this fall. Duvall has appeared on a number series, including "CSI: Miami," "The Event" and "Numb3rs."
USA has added Elisabeth Hower to the cast of "Suits," where she will play a childhood friend of Patrick J. Adams' character. Hower will make her first appearance on Aug. 23, the show's midseason finale.
