Grey North America has promoted Michael Houston to chief executive officer, reporting to Grey Group chair and CEO James R. Heekin, III. Houston had been chief operating officer at Grey New York. In his new role he will lead the agency’s New York, San Francisco and Canada offices, as well as the New York agency Grey Activation and PR.
Turner Entertainment Networks has promoted Jennifer Dorian to chief strategy officer, based in the company’s Atlanta office. Dorian had been senior vice president of network strategy and brand development.
Mike Lazzo has been promoted to executive vice president and creative director at Adult Swim, up from his previous title as senior vice president of programming and production. Additionally, Rob Sorcher has been promoted to executive vice president and chief content officer for Cartoon Network, after previously serving as just chief content officer.
Anhelo Reyes has been named vice president of marketing at Fusion, the upcoming network from Univision and ABC News. Reyes was most recently vice president of strategic property planning and marketing at Nickelodeon.
Lee Rierson has been named chief operating officer at FremantleMedia North America, reporting to chief executive officer Thom Beers. Rierson previously held a similar position at Shine America.
NBC has named Phil Breman vice president of current programming, working with comedies and dramas for the upcoming season. Breman was previously executive director of original series development at Disney Channel.
ABC has named Lennon and Maisy Stella, as well as actor Chris Carmack, series regulars on “Nashville,” which is entering its second season. Carmack joined the season for the final six episodes of season one.
Joe Conley, a TV actor best known for playing general store owner Ike Godsey on “The Waltons,” died over the weekend at age 85. No cause was given. Conley also appeared on a number of other shows throughout his career, including “Mr. Ed,” “Lassie,” “Dragnet” and “Green Acres.”
Voice Media Group has named Tom Finkel editor at The Village Voice, effective later this summer. Finkel has been editor at the company’s Riverfront Times in St. Louis. Village Voice also recently added Albert Samaha, Tessa Stuart and Anna Merlan, naming all three staff writers. Samaha joins from SF Weekly, Stuart from Santa Cruz Weekly and Merlan from the Dallas Observer.
Reporter Rebecca Berg has joined The Washington Examiner, where she will work as a political correspondent. Berg joins from BuzzFeed, where she was a Capitol Hill reporter.
Reuters has brought in Siva Govindasamy as chief aerospace as defense correspondent, working out of Asia. Govindasamy was previously Asia managing editor at the aviation industry web site Flightgobal.
