CedricEntertainerDisney-ABC Domestic Television has named actor and comedian Cedric the Entertainer host of the syndicated game show “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” for its upcoming 12th season, replacing Meredith Vieira. Cedric also appears in the TV Land comedy “The Soul Man.”

CBS Television Stations has named Ed Ziskind vice president of business development and strategic partnerships, working with sales teams in New York, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Pittsburgh and Minneapolis. Ziskind was previously senior vice president in the sales and marketing department at Tribune Broadcasting.

Univision has made two promotions, naming Lisa Nolan senior vice president of network sales and Claudia Granados vice president of network sales. Nolan had been vice president, while Granados was previously vice president of business development.

 

Agencies

 

Media agency Initiative has named Leah Nosnik Meranus chief growth officer, a new position at the company. She joins from MediaCom, where she was senior partner and director of business development.

 

Radio

 

Brad Young has been promoted to vice president of sales at CBS Radio Sales and Entercom Radio Sales, which are part of Katz Radio Group. Young joined CBS and Entercom Sales as an account executive in 2010.

 

NewMedia

 

Dan Lyons, editor in chief at the technology blog ReadWrite, is exiting on April 1. The web site TechCrunch reports that Lyons is leaving to take a position at the marketing software company Hubspot.

 

CableTV

 

MSNBC has named Steve Kornacki host of its weekend panel discussion show “Up,” taking over for Chris Hayes on April 1. Kornacki is a senior political writer at Salon and previously hosted the network’s “The Cycle.” Hayes is taking over MSNBC’s 8 p.m. weekdays slot.

Actor James Woods has joined the cast of Showtime’s upcoming drama “Ray Donovan,” joining Liev Schreiber and Jon Voight in the cast. Woods’ most recent regular TV role was on the series “Shark.”

“Modern Family” actress Sarah Hyland has joined the cast of “Bonnie and Clyde,” a miniseries to air on both Lifetime and History. Hyland will appear alongside Emile Hirsch, Holliday Grainger and Lane Garrison.

 

Newspapers

 

Geoff Webster, deputy editor at The Sun in the UK, has been charged with allegedly authorizing bribe payments to public officials in return for information used by journalists. The charges came about as a part of a probe into illegal payments to public officials called Operation Elveden.

Police in Pakistan have arrested a man in connection with the murder of Daniel Pearl, the Wall Street Journal reporter who was abducted and beheaded in 2002. The man arrested is a militant named Qari Abdul Hayyee, who used the alias Asad Ullah. It’s not yet known what his alleged involvement was in the kidnapping and killing, but he is believed to be a former leader of the sectarian group that carried out the crime.
