CNN contributor Roland Martin is leaving the cable network on April 6, telling Twitter followers that new network head Jeff Zucker “wants his own peeps.” Martin, who also hosts “Washington Watch” on TV One, had been with the network since 2007.
Tribune has named Matt Cherniss president and general manager at WGN America, taking over for Julio Marenghi, who becomes president of broadcast media sales. Cherniss had been senior vice president of production at Warner Bros.
TV Guide Network has brought in David Futterman, naming him vice president of paid programming and direct response ad sales. Futterman previously worked in paid programming sales at NBCUniversal.
Eddy Ruiz has been promoted to president and general manager at A&E Networks Latin America, in charge of the Latin American versions of A&E, History and Bio. Ruiz had been vice president and general manager.
CNN has made three additions, naming Pamela Brown, George Howell and Alina Machado correspondents. Brown joins from Washington, D.C.’s WJLA-TV, and Howell and Machado were previously at WSB-TV in Atlanta.
Henry Bromell, a TV writer and producer who most recently worked on Showtime’s “Homeland,” died on Monday at age 65 after suffering a heart attack. Other shows Bromell worked on during his career include “Chicago Hope,” “Homicide: Life on the Street” and “Northern Exposure.”
David&Goliath has named Chris Robertson digital creative director, working with the agency’s Kia, California Lottery and Universal Studios Hollywood accounts. Robertson was previously a creative director in the Dubai office at JWT.
Anette Hughes has joined the digital agency AvatarLabs, becoming a creative director. Hughes joins from The Cimarron Group, where she was vice president of interactive.
Hearst Magazines has named Jane Wladar publisher and chief revenue officer at Country Living, reporting to women’s lifestyle group senior vice president, publishing director and chief revenue officer Patricia Haegele. Wladar, who begins her new position on April 3, had been group associate publisher for Popular Mechanics, Car and Driver, and Road & Track.
Town & Country magazine has made two hires, naming Hillary Koota Krevlin executive director of partnerships and brand development and William Gasperoni executive director of print and digital marketing. Krevlin joins from Condé Nast, Gasperoni from The Wall Street Journal.
Telemundo has named singer Paulina Rubio a vocal coach on its upcoming show “La Voz Kids,” a Spanish-language spinoff of “The Voice” for youngsters. Rubio previously served as a judge on “La Voz Mexico.”
Brainshark, which runs a cloud-based sales platform, has made two promotions, naming Greg Flynn president and Mike McEachern executive vice president and chief financial officer. Flynn was previously senior vice president of products and services, while McEachern was senior vice president.
Michele Sweeney has been named vice president of North American sales for the Western region at Voltari, a mobile advertising technology company. Sweeney has previously held positions at Cardinal Path, NetShelter Technology Media, Nimblefish Technologies and Kadium.
Eric Quanstrom has been named chief marketing officer and vice president of marketing and sales at Nimble, which runs an online contact management tool for businesses. Quanstrom had been chief operating officer at Sorenson Media.
