JonStewartJon Stewart, host of Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show,” is taking a hiatus from the show beginning in June so he can direct and produce his first film, the drama “Rosewater.” Correspondent John Oliver will fill in for Stewart for eight weeks of episodes.

Bart Fisher has been promoted to director of original development at Crown Media Family Networks, which includes Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Movie Channel. Fisher had been manager of program development at scheduling.

 

Agencies

 

John Singer has been named senior vice president of client solutions at RAPP, working with the agency’s pharmaceutical marketing practice. Singer joins from Blue Spoon Consulting, where he was managing director.

Marketing agency re:fuel has started a new experiential arm called hustle promotions, to be led by president John Weipz and chief revenue officer John Leider. Weipz was previously re:fuel’s vice president of media and promotions and Leider was its vice president of sales.

 

NetworkTV

 

Univision has named Tonia O’Connor president of its new corporate business development group, in addition to her role as president of content distribution. O’Connor joined Univision in 2008 as executive vice president of distribution sales and marketing.

 

Magazines

 

The Atlantic has named David Minkin associate publisher of sales strategy and operations, a newly created position. Minkin was previously publisher at Breaking Media, which he co-founded.

Elsewhere at The Atlantic, Lymari Morales has been named editorial director for Atlantic Media Strategies, its in-house creative division. Morales had been editorial director at Gallup.

Niche Media has made two moves at Gotham magazine, including promoting Catherine Sabino from executive editor to editor in chief. Niche has also named Samantha Yanks executive fashion director, in addition to her duties as editor in chief at Hamptons magazine.

 

Newspapers

 

MailOnline has made two additions, naming Linda Villani West Coast sales director and Kelly Davis Midwest sales director. Villani joins from Akoo International, Davis from Cox Digital Solutions.

 

Radio

 

Cumulus has named Steve Shaw senior vice president of national sales, putting him in charge of sales for the company’s 525 radio stations. Shaw joins form Katz Radio Group, where he was president.

 

NewMedia

 

Dan Hodges has been named president at ChaCha, the text message question and answer service. Hodges was most recently chief revenue officer at Verve Mobile.

 

Elsewhere

 

Research and analysis firm ABI Research has brought in Jason McNicol, naming him senior analyst. McNicol was previously senior research marketing analyst at Cox Communications.
