ArnoldSchwarzeneggerFormer California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has been named group executive editor at Flex and Muscle & Fitness magazines, writing monthly columns for each. Schwarzenegger has appeared on the covers of the magazines more than 60 times going back to 1968.

MPA, the Association of Magazine Media, has named Lauren Bronchtein senior vice president of research and insights, replacing the outgoing Wayne Eadie. Bronchtein had been consumer insights director for the style and entertainment group at Time Inc. MPA has also brought in Alison Heisler, naming her director of strategic partnerships. She joins from Aspen Sojourne.

 

Agencies

 

Media planning and buying agency DWA has named Zak Garner director of new media for North America, effective immediately. Garner was previously a media strategist at Gyro in San Francisco.

Kalle Hellzen has joined Goodby Silverstein & Partners, becoming the agency’s chief digital officer. Hellzen joins from ACNE, where he was partner, creative director and director.

Duncan/Channon chief creative officer Michael Lemme has been promoted, rising to partner at the San Francisco agency. The company has also brought in former AKQA associate creative director Andrea Bozeman, naming her creative director.

Deutsch has added Sheri Radel Rosenberg to the staff in its New York office, naming her vice president and director of art buying. Rosenberg previously worked as a freelance art buyer for a number of agencies, including Ogilvy West and Anomaly.

Digital agency Possible has named Jonathan McVey global creative officer, in charge of creative strategy for the agency’s 26 offices. McVey was previously chief creative officer.

 

CableTV

 

Starz has promoted Theano Apostolou to executive vice president of communications, based in the network’s Los Angeles office. Apostolou will also remain chief press officer and spokesperson for the network.

Lifetime has added Kaley Ronayne to the cast of its drama “Army Wives,” in a recurring role as the daughter of Brooke Shields‘ character. Ronayne most recently made an appearance on CW’s “The Carrie Diaries.”

 

Newspapers

 

John Sullivan is taking on two jobs in Washington, D.C., this May. He will join The Washington Post as an investigative reporter, and he will also teach investigative journalism at American University. Sullivan is a former reporter at The Philadelphia Inquirer.

 

NewMedia

 

Josh DuBois has joined The Daily Beast as a faith columnist, writing about the role of faith in social problems. DuBois was most recently executive director of the White House Office of Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships.
