NBC has found its replacement for Sharon Osbourne on “America’s Got Talent.” The network has signed on former Spice Girl Mel B (real name Melanie Brown) as a judge for the upcoming season, joining Howard Stern and Howie Mandel on the panel. The former singer most recently spent two years as a judge on the British version of “The X Factor.”
Barbra Robin has been promoted to senior vice president of integrated marketing at the CW, reporting to executive vice president of national sales Rob Tuck. She has been vice president of integrated marketing at the network since its 2006 launch.
NBCUniversal has named Lori Conkling executive vice president of cross-platform strategy and business development, a new position at the company. Conkling was previously executive vice president of distribution at A&E Networks.
Telemundo has promoted Christine Maggiore-Escribano to senior vice president of integrated marketing solutions, reporting to chief operating officer Jacqueline Hernandez and executive vice president of ad sales and integrated marketing Mike Rosen. Maggiore-Escribano joined the network in 2009 as vice president.
CBS has added Will Arnett to the cast of an untitled comedy pilot from writer and executive producer Greg Garcia (“Raising Hope”). Arnett will only join the project if his current show, NBC’s “Up All Night,” is canceled, which is looking increasingly likely.
ZenithOptimedia has named Tim Collison global communications director, a newly created position. Collison was most recently in charge of worldwide communications at Initiative.
CNN International has named Rani Raad executive vice president and chief commercial officer, in charge of the network’s commercial strategy. Raad will also continue to manager Turner Broadcasting’s Turkey, Middle East and Africa operations.
The New York Times has made a pair of promotions, naming Sam Dolnick and Jay Schrieber deputy sports editors. Schrieber had been sports section managing editor, while Dolnick was a metro reporter.
Digital advertising technology company TruEffect has brought in Tim Mayer, naming him chief marketing officer. Mayer was previously vice president of marketing at ShopAtHome.
Lauren Halpern has been named vice president of sales for the Eastern region at Voltari, a mobile advertising technology company. Halpern has previously held positions at Fox Sports Media Group, Discovery Communications and The WB.
Mike Collins has been named executive vice president of sales and promotion at Remedy Health Media, which runs a number of health-related web sites. Collins joins from WebMD, where he was group vice president of sales. Remedy Health has also promoted Aryeh Lebeau from general manager of TheBody.com and TheBodyPro.com to senior vice president of client performance.
Joe Garagiola, a longtime sportscaster for a variety of Major League Baseball teams, is retiring from the industry after 58 years. Garagiola started his career in baseball in 1955 as an announcer for St. Louis Cardinals games. For the past 15 years he has called games for the Arizona Diamondbacks.
