CBS has cast Mike Vogel for the lead role in its upcoming summer series “Under the Dome,” based on the book by Stephen King and produced by Steven Spielberg. Vogel will play an army vet living in a town that suddenly finds itself underneath a mysterious dome.
Tribune Co. has named Larry Wert president of local broadcasting, putting him in charge of strategy and operations for the company’s 23 local TV stations and Chicago’s WGN Radio. Wert was previously executive vice president of station initiatives for NBC-owned stations.
Actress Christina Applegate left the NBC comedy “Up All Night” last week following news the show would move from a single-camera format to a multi-camera studio audience format, and now there’s word of a possible replacement. There are rumors that NBC has been eyeing a number of possibilities, including former “Friends” star Lisa Kudrow, according to Deadline.com. The show will tape one multi-camera episode this season without Applegate.
Saatchi & Saatchi Wellness has named Kathy Delaney chief creative officer, as well as global chief creative officer for the Saatchi & Saatchi Health network. Delaney most recently ran her own consultancy, and before that she was chief creative officer and president at Nitro.
ORION Holdings has promoted Steve Mueller, naming him president at the media agencies NSA Media and Wahlstrom. Mueller’s previous title was chief delivery officer.
Discovery Networks International has named Charlotte Reid director of production and development, in charge of lifestyle and entertainment programming. Reid had been a creative director at Chocolate Media.
Participant Media has named Holly Hines senior vice president of scripted programming for its upcoming cable network targeting millennials, which hasn’t yet been named. Hines joins from FremantleMedia, where she was vice president of scripted development.
Fox News Channel has added former Massachusetts Sen. Scott Brown as a contributor, with his first appearance coming on Wednesday evening. Brown will appear on a number of the network’s shows, beginning with “Hannity.”
Actress Linda Hamilton has signed on to guest on Syfy’s “Lost Girl,” appearing in the March 25 episode as an assassin. Hamilton’s most recent TV appearance was on NBC’s “Chuck.”
The Washington Post has named Hilary Rosen a contributor for its opinion pages, writing political commentary alongside Ed Rogers. Rosen is also a contributor at CNN and managing director at the public affairs firm SKDKnickerbocker.
Online publishing technology company PubMatic has brought in Andrew Zeiger, naming him chief revenue officer for the Americas. Zeiger has previously held positions at RichRelevance, CNET, Geeknet Media and Ziff Davis Publishing.
Steve Sachs has been named chief executive officer at OneSpot, an online advertising company. Sachs is a former executive vice president of consumer marketing and sales at Time Inc.
Paul Rector has been named vice president of North American sales at Voltari, a mobile advertising technology company. Rector was previously chief revenue officer at Heartland Publications.
