CBS has signed on actor Robin Williams to star in “Crazy Ones,” a comedy pilot from David E. Kelley. The former “Mork & Mindy” star will play a man who works with his daughter at an advertising agency. Williams’ most recent TV appearance was a guest role on FX’s “Louie.”
Steven Justman has been named vice president of sales at NBC Sports Ventures, which runs a number of sporting competition brands, such as the Dew Action Sports Tour, Red Bull Signature Series, Lucas Oil Motocross Championships and the National Dog Show. Justman was previously president of entertainment, sales and marketing at indoorDIRECT.
Univision has made a pair of moves, including naming Hilary Dubin vice president of business development. Dubin joins from Telemundo, where she managed West Coast network sales. Univision has also named Luis Fernandez-Rocha regional vice president for its Univision Television Group, working in Raleigh and Atlanta. Fernandez-Rocha previously worked on TeleFutura’s transition to becoming UniMás.
Katie Couric has landed another big interview for her syndicated talk show “Katie.” Couric is set to sit down with Sue Paterno, widow of longtime Penn State football coach Joe Paterno, who passed away last year. The interview will air on Feb. 11. The news comes two weeks after Couric interviewed former Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o, the apparent victim of an online hoax.
Grey New York has named Jane Reiss chief marketing officer, working alongside president and chief creative officer Tor Myhren and chief operating officer Michael Houston. Reiss was most recently chief marketing officer at NYC & Co.
Condé Nast has named Patricia Röckenwagner senior vice president of communications, putting her in charge of the publisher’s public relations. Röckenwagner was previously senior vice president of marketing and communications at McGraw-Hill Companies.
Consumer Reports has made three hires, naming Diane Salvatore senior director of content strategy and delivery, Christian Nimsky vice president of digital interactive products and services, and Brent Diamond vice president and general manager of magazine and newsletter products. Salvatore previously worked at Prevention, Nimsky at Edmunds.com, and Diamond at Powder and Surfer magazines.
Facebook has brought in Michael Buckley, naming him vice president of business communications. Buckley was previously a managing partner at Brunswick Group.
Michael Hegarty has been named vice president of media sales at Legolas Media, which runs an online media buying and selling platform. Hegarty had been director of East Coast and Midwest sales at Netmining.
Yieldex, which handles inventory and revenue analytics for digital publishers, has brought in Liza Cichowski as director of marketing. Cichowski was previously director of marketing communications at PubMatic.
CNN has named Zain Asher a business correspondent, reporting on personal finance, money and the economy. Asher joins from Money magazine, where she covered careers and investing.
