Larry Lujack, a longtime Chicago radio personality known as “Superjock” and “Uncle Lar,” died on Wednesday at age 73 after battling esophageal cancer. Lujack worked in Chicago radio from the 1960s until 1987; most recently he’d been living in New Mexico.
Thomas Crampton has been promoted to managing director at Social@Ogilvy, Ogilvy & Mather’s social media strategy firm. Crampton had been regional director for the Asia Pacific region.
The Media Kitchen has promoted Caterina Bartoli to executive vice president of media, a newly created position. Bartoli had been partner and group director at the agency.
Customer engagement agency Rosetta has promoted Alexander Mahernia, naming him chief creative officer for North America. Mahernia was most recently managing partner and executive creative director.
The Christian Science Monitor has promoted Marshall Ingwerson to editor, taking over for the departing John Yemma in January. Ingwerson was previously managing editor.
Elle magazine has named Randy Minor design director, effective on Dec. 30. Minor was previously art director at New York magazine, where he’d been since 2006.
Starz has made a trio of promotions, naming Bill Bergmann senior vice president of finance and planning, Janet Dickinson senior vice president of finance and accounting and controller, and Joe Zamora vice president of finance. Bergmann and Zamora have been at Starz for 15 years, Dickinson for six.
Viacom International Media Networks has named Magnus Kastner executive vice president and managing director, in charge of Northern Europe. Kastner was previously president at Rotana Media Services.
Former “3rd Rock from the Sun” actress Kristen Johnston has been diagnosed with a rare form of the autoimmune disorder lupus. She wrote on her Facebook page that she had to sit out a few episodes of her series “The Exes” on TV Land, but she’s now feeling better and back at work.
Henry B. Haitz III has been named group publisher and president at Hearst Connecticut Newspapers, beginning on Jan. 6. Haitz had been president and publisher of The State Media Company in South Carolina.
The Wall Street Journal has moved Jeanne Whalen to deputy health and science bureau chief, working out of the paper’s New York bureau. Whalen previously covered health, science and pharmaceuticals while based in London.
Former “Desperate Housewives” actress Marcia Cross will co-star in Fox’s comedy pilot “Fatrick,” joining Ray Ford, Dante Hoagland and Lucy Rust in the cast. Before “Housewives,” Cross appeared on the series “Everwood.”
Actor Josh Peck is set to guest on CBS’s “The Big Bang Theory,” playing a comic book geek and enemy of Kevin Sussman’s character. Peck is best known for his role on Nickelodeon’s “Drake & Josh.”
Fox has added Judy Davis to the cast of “24: Live Another Day,” the upcoming 12-episode edition of Fox’s “24.” Davis will play a German arms dealer in the project, which will premiere in the spring.
