If Fox’s “The X Factor” returns next season, it will likely be without judge Demi Lovato. People magazine reports Lovato won’t return to the show, quoting a source that says she wants to spend the next year focusing on her music. Lovato is scheduled to begin a musical tour on Feb. 9 in Vancouver.
NBCUniversal has named Mark Marshall senior vice president of portfolio sales, working with the company’s Chicago and Detroit offices. Marshall was previously at Turner Broadcasting. NBCU has also expanded the role of current senior vice president of portfolio sales Cherie Cohen, putting her in charge of West Coast sales.
Ryan Smith has joined ABC News as a New York-based correspondent to provide legal analysis, appearing across platforms for both ABC and ESPN. Smith was most recently anchor of the HLN show “Evening Express.”
NBC has added Annie Mumolo to the cast of its midseason comedy “About A Boy,” which stars David Walton and Minnie Driver. Mumolo’s most recent TV appearances were voice roles on “The Looney Tunes Show” and “Curious George.”
Actress Ashley Williams has joined the cast of CBS’s untitled sitcom pilot starring comedian Jim Gaffigan, playing his wife. Williams most recently appeared in two episodes of the show “Wedding Band.”
Marlee Matlin will guest on Fox’s “Glee” later this season, playing a judge in the show’s nationals episode in March. Matlin also appears in ABC Family’s “Switched at Birth.”
Bonnier Corp. has promoted Elizabeth Burnham Murphy to chief marketing officer, a new position at the company. Murphy was previously chief marketing officer for the company’s men’s group.
Bloomberg has named Paul Marcum head of global digital innovation, effective Jan. 13. Marcum was previously director of global digital marketing and programming at GE.
Forbes magazine has expanded the role of Avik Roy, naming him opinion editor beginning in January. Roy is also editor and principal author of the Forbes healthcare policy blog The Apothecary.
Netflix has named Jane Wiseman senior executive, working with the streaming service’s programming team. Wiseman was previously at Chernin Entertainment, where she was in charge of comedy production and development.
