Singer RuPaul is expanding his TV exposure. The host of "RuPaul's Drag Race" has signed on to guest on ABC's "Happy Endings," playing Alex and Jane's hairdresser, who starts working with new client Max. RuPaul's episode will air sometime early next year.
Treat Williams has joined NBC's "Chicago Fire" in a recurring role, playing the father of Taylor Kinney's character. Williams most recently had a recurring role on USA's "White Collar."
MEC has made two hires, naming John Baker managing partner and regional media director for Latin America and Jill Kelly media and engagement planning director for North America, both working with the agency's Colgate account. Both Baker and Kelly join MEC from Mindshare.
Horizon Media has named Kirk Olson director of TrendSights, putting him in charge of creating, developing and managing a global trendspotting team. Olson was previously vice president of Social Spaces at Ipsos.
DDB has named James Tucker associate creative director, working in the agency's New York office and reporting to chief creative officer Matt Eastwood. Tucker joins from BBDO in New Zealand, where he was a senior art director.
Ad agency Translation has named Tiffany Coletti Titolo managing director, a newly created position in charge of the company's New York and Chicago offices. Coletti Titolo was most recently at StrawberryFrog, and before that she was at DOJO.
Crown Media Family Networks has named Amy Jo Wayne senior vice president of advertising sales, reporting to Hallmark Movie Channel general manager Ed Georger. Wayne was previously senior vice president of ad sales at Adspace Digital Mall Network.
Comedy Central has made two promotions at its nightly series "The Colbert Report," naming Barry Julien co-executive producer and Opus Moreschi head writer. Julien had been supervising producer and head writer, while Moreschi was a writer.
National Review has promoted Robert Costa to Washington editor, working with both the magazine and the web site. Costa, who will manage the title's Capitol Hill bureau, had been a reporter at the magazine.
Active Interest Media has named Dennis Lewon editor in chief for Backpacker magazine, following previous stints at Outside and Arizona Adventures. He replaces outgoing Backpacker editor Jonathan Dorn, who has been promoted to senior vice president of content and product development.
The Orange County Register has brought in Margot Roosevelt, naming her economy reporter. Roosevelt joins the newspaper from Reuters, where she most recently covered the 2012 presidential election.
Thomas Hartman has been named senior vice president of sales and marketing at Networked Insights, which handles online analysis for marketers. Hartman was most recently a senior vice president of corporate sales at Condé Nast.
