Cheryl Cole, the British pop star who was fired as a judge on Fox's "The X Factor" before the show's first season even aired, has sued production company Blue Orbit Productions in Los Angeles Superior Court, saying she's still owed money. Cole was paid $1.8 million for the first season, but in the suit she claims she's owed at least $2.3 million for a second season, along with expenses. The suit claims the contract stated Cole would be paid for two seasons of "X Factor," whether she actually appeared in the episodes or not.
Rolling Stones band members Mick Jagger and Keith Richards will appear on CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman" on Tuesday, presenting the show's Top Ten list. The appearance will be the first ever on the show for both musicians.
Hearst Television has made two promotions, naming David J. Barrett chairman and chief executive officer and Jordan Wertlieb president. Barrett has been with the company for nearly 30 years, Wertlieb for nearly 20.
San Antonio digital agency Digett has made two hires, naming Jeff Lamboy strategic marketing and communication director and Jonathan Dale senior web developer and architect. Lamboy and Dale both join from Rackspace Hosting.
Ad agency Huge has added Jason Whiting to its staff, naming him managing director of client services. Whiting was previously managing director at Skinny.
AOL has named Steven Kalin president and chief operating officer at its local news service Patch, reporting to co-founder and chief executive Jon Brod. Kalin was most recently chief operating officer at Westwood One.
NBCUniversal has named Dana Henry Benson executive director of communications for Fandango, a newly created position. Benson most recently held a communications position at Disney Interactive.
Lisa Pearson has been promoted to executive vice president of marketing at Bazaarvoice, an online social media commerce company. Pearson had been vice president of global marketing.
Source Interlink Media has promoted Jordan Mastagni to editor in chief at Baggers magazine, which is in the company's American Motorcycle Group. Mastagni got into motorcycle journalism in 2006 as an editorial assistant at Hot Bike, Street Chopper and Bike Works.
Betsy Lumbye, senior vice president and executive editor at The Fresno Bee, is retiring from her position effective on Dec. 28. She has been with the newspaper since 1997. Editorial page editor Jim Boren will take over as executive editor.
Comedian Andrew Dice Clay will star in a stand-up special on Showtime Dec. 31, his first televised stand-up special in 17 years. Clay, who taped the special back in August, most recently had a recurring guest role on HBO's "Entourage."
Jenni Rivera, a Mexican-American singer who also starred in the mun2 reality series "I Love Jenni," died in a plane crash yesterday morning. Her plane left Monterrey, Mexico at 3:30 a.m. Sunday and went missing. The crash site was found early this morning. Rivera was developing a sitcom at ABC in which she would have played a single mother.
