Actor Malcolm McDowell is set to star in Amazon’s comedy pilot “Mozart in the Jungle,” joining Gael García Bernal in the cast. The project takes a behind-the-scenes look at a classical music symphony.
Viacom International Media Networks has named Oliver Nitz senior vice president of mobile brand licensing, taking over for the departed Michel Dupont. Nitz was previously at Red Bull Media House.
AOL editor in chief Cyndi Stivers is reportedly leaving the web site, according to The New York Post, a day after the site cut 20 other employees. There’s no word yet on what Stivers will do next.
Emily Passer has joined Quartz, becoming its new director of communications. Passer was previously a communications executive at The Financial Times.
Ad agency Rhea + Kaiser has made two hires, naming Megan Henry senior brand strategist and Richard Whitfield senior art director. Henry has previously held positions with First Midwest Bank, JMB Insurance and the Chicago Cubs, while Whitfield has worked with clients including Toyota and Capital One.
Dave Colford has been promoted to president at trade magazine publisher Hanley Wood Media Network, up from his previous position as chief customer officer. Colford joins the company in September 2013.
Actress Dianna Agron is returning to Fox’s “Glee” as a guest in its 100th episode, reprising her role as Quinn Fabray. Heather Morris, Mark Salling, Harry Shum, Jr., and Amber Riley will also appear in the March 18 episode.
NBC has signed on Chris Elliott to guest on the upcoming season of “Community,” playing the founder of Greendale Community College. Elliott stars in the Adult Swim series “Eagleheart.”
Actress Kate Williamson, who played a teacher in the Ellen DeGeneres sitcom “Ellen,” died last week in her home at age 82. No cause was given. Williamson’s death comes less than a month after the death of her husband, character actor Al Ruscio.
TV Land has added Sutton Foster to the cast of its pilot “Younger,” which will be written by “Sex and the City” creator Darren Star. Foster previously appeared in “Bunheads.”
