Former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee is ending his radio program, “The Mike Huckabee Show,” on Dec. 12. The one-time Republican presidential candidate wrote on his Facebook page that the move will allow him more time to pursue other opportunities. The program, which launched less than two years ago, was heard on 200 stations. There’s speculation Huckabee is gearing up for another run for the White House in 2016. He will continue to tape his daily “Huckabee Report” commentaries, which air three times daily on more than 500 radio stations.
CBS Radio has brought in Alan Blum as vice president of branded content solutions, a newly created position. Blum was previously president and executive creative director at the agency Re:Vision, which he founded in 1993.
New York agency Johannes Leonardo has made two hires, naming Julian Schreiber and Tom Martin executive creative directors. The duo, who officially make the move on Jan. 20, will join from Clemenger BBDO in Melbourne.
NBCUniversal has named Raquel “Rocky” Egusquiza vice president of community affairs, working with Hispanic enterprises and content. Egusquiza joins from AARP, where she was vice president of multicultural markets.
NBC has named Dan Patrick, Rebecca Lowe and Lester Holt hosts of its upcoming Winter Olympics, which kick off on Feb. 6. Those three join Bob Costas, who will host primetime and late night on NBC, and Al Michaels, who will work weekend afternoons on NBC and weekdays on NBCSN.
Jim Lovell, an audio technician who worked on NBC’s ‘Today” and other shows on the network, died over the weekend at age 58, a victim of the train derailment in the Bronx. Lovell worked on “Today” for more than 20 years, including during many of the show’s outdoor concerts.
Time Inc. has named Sarah Miller European editor at Travel + Leisure, beginning with the January 2014 issue. Miller also runs the independent agency Sarah Miller and Partners, and she previously served as founding editor at Condé Nast Traveller UK.
Ricardo Baca is suddenly the envy of stoners everywhere. He’s been appointed to the new position of Denver Post marijuana editor, leading the paper’s coverage of a new recreational marijuana law that takes effect next month. Baca has been with the paper for 12 years, most recently as entertainment editor and music critic.
Fox International Channels has made a pair of additions, naming Helena Choe vice president of syndication and Rahul Sood vice president of affiliate sales. Choe joins from Sportive International, Sood from NDTV.
Mia Lane has been named head of development at Comedy Central UK, effective immediately. Lane was previously senior entertainment development producer at Wall to Wall.
