Actress and comedienne Sarah Silverman is set to star in a Nov. 23 stand-up special on HBO called “Sarah Silverman: We Are Miracles,” her first such special on the network. Silverman is no stranger to the network–she also will star in its comedy pilot “People In New Jersey” with former “That ’70s Show” actor Topher Grace.
Allison Gollust has been promoted to chief marketing officer at CNN, up from her position as senior vice president of communications. Gollust will continue to lead the network’s public relations and serve as its chief spokesperson.
WE tv has named Cheryl Bloch senior vice president of scripted programming, a new position at the network. Bloch, who will report to president and general manager Marc Juris, had been a senior consultant at the network.
Hispanic cable network NUVOtv has named Sylvia Hart vice president and creative director, in charge of on-air promotion. Hart was previously at NBCUniversal, where she had been since 1999.
Media agency Maxus Canada has named Kerry Mitchell growth driver, a new position focusing on adding to the company’s client roster. Mitchell has previously worked at Rogers Media, InBusiness Media and Transcontinental Publishing.
Nobbie Kim has been named executive creative director at Rauxa, a digital and direct marketing agency. Kim joins from TBWA\Chiat\Day, where he was a creative director.
Clear Channel Media and Entertainment has named Gary Larkin executive vice president of Total Traffic and Weather Network, which delivers traffic and weather updates on its stations. Larkin was previously vice president of digital and mobile sales at TVGuide.com.
Technology and social media-focused web site Mashable has brought in Jim Roberts, naming him executive editor and chief content officer. Roberts was most recently at Reuters, and before that he was at The New York Times.
Jason Jedlinski has been named senior vice president of marketplace development at NDN, a digital media exchange. Jedlinski was previously vice president of digital operations at Tribune Broadcasting.
Olympic gold medal-winning gymnast Nastia Liukin has joined NBC for its coverage of the upcoming Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, working as a reporter across the network’s platforms. Liukin, a dual Russian-U.S. citizen, also served as a contributor for NBCOlympics.com during last year’s Summer Olympics in London.
“Hawaii Five-0″ actor Daniel Dae Kim has signed a new deal with CBS Television Studios, under which he will develop new projects through his company, 3AD. Kim is best known for his role on ABC’s “Lost.”
Actor Paulo Costanzo will guest on CBS’s “Criminal Minds,” playing an old friend of Kristen Vangsness’s character. Costanzo also appears in USA’s “Royal Pains.”
