Longtime talk show host Opra Winfrey guest-anchored the 8 a.m. hour of ABC's "Good Morning America" Thursday morning, and during the hour regular co-host Robin Roberts called in to give an update on her health following a bone marrow transplant. Roberts said, "I can't wait to come back. I want to be back on that couch with those froggy slippers," although she didn't give a timeline for when she might return.
NBCUniversal has named Juliette Morris executive vice president of partner marketing and communications, working with the company's content distribution unit. Morris was previously senior vice president of partner marketing, creative services and special events at Viacom.
Former "Scrubs" star Zach Braff is developing a comedy project at ABC called "Garage Bar," about a group of friends who begin to drift apart when one of them makes it big in music. Braff will write, direct and executive produce the comedy.
The Martin Agency has promoted Joe Alexander to chief creative officer, replacing John Norman. Alexander was previously executive creative director at the Richmond, Va., agency.
Digital media planning and buying agency Centro has made two additions, naming Scott Neslund executive vice president of media and Kelly Wenzel chief marketing officer. Neslund joins from Moxie Interactive, Wenzel from Undertone.
Ben Davies has been promoted to head of broadcast production at Droga5, working in the agency's New York office. Davies has been with the agency since last year, producing campaigns for Newcastle Brown Ale and Hennessy.
The Weather Channel has named Neil Katz vice president and editor in chief, in charge of the network's digital properties. Katz joins from The Huffington Post, where he was executive news editor.
Showtime has added actors Adam Ferrera and Morris Chestnut to the cast of "Nurse Jackie" for its upcoming fifth season, which is scheduled to premiere early next year. Ferrera will play a love interest of Edie Falco's character, while Chestnut will play a trauma doctor.
Actress Garcelle Beauvais will not return for the third season of TNT's "Franklin & Bash," after producers declined to pick up her option. After hearing the news Beauvais took to Twitter, writing "Just found out that I'm not being asked back on @franklinandbash #stunned

Spike TV is set to honor the career of comedian and actor Eddie Murphy with the special "Eddie Murphy: One Night Only" taping on Nov. 3 and airing on Nov. 14. Among those scheduled to appear on the special are Arsenio Hall, Samuel L. Jackson, Martin Lawrence, Tracy Morgan, Chris Rock and Nick Nolte. The Roots will serve as house band for the special.
The Chicago Reporter editor and publisher Kimbriell Kelly is joining The Washington Post on Nov. 5, working as an investigative reporter. Former Chicago Reporter editor and publisher Laura Washington will return to the publication to serve as publisher on a temporary basis, while managing editor Rui Kaneya has been named interim editor.
Dan Slivjanovski has been named senior vice president of marketing at blinkx, a video search engine. Slivjanovski was previously executive vice president and head of client services at the marketing consultancy HNW.
