Rory Albanese, executive producer and showrunner at Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart,” is leaving the show to focus on primetime comedy, according to Deadline. Albanese has signed a script development deal with Warner Bros. TV, and he’s already sold one project to CBS. Deadline says “Daily Show” will promote somebody from the program to take over as showrunner.
TBS has named Thom Hinkle vice president of comedy, in charge of the network’s original scripted comedy shows. Hinkle was previously co-president at Carousel Television.
ReelzChannel has named Steve Cheskin vice president of programming, after working with the cable network as a consultant since April. Cheskin is a former vice president of programming at TLC.
Discovery Communications has promoted Kevin Bennett to general manager of Investigation Discovery and Military Channel, as well as executive vice president of programming for ID, Military Channel and Destination America. Bennett had been general manager of ID and senior vice president of programming and research for all three networks.
Regional sports network YES has brought in Donny Marshall as an analyst for Brooklyn Nets basketball, joining Mike Fratello and Jim Spanarkel. Marshall also works with NBC Sports Network as a basketball analyst.
Showtime has signed rapper T.I. for a role on its comedy “House of Lies,” playing the co-owner of a clothing company in a multi-episode arc. The rapper’s most recent scripted TV appearance was a guest role on “Hawaii Five-0.”
INNOCEAN USA has named Marisstella Marinkovic vice president of account services, reporting to chief operating officer Brad Fogel. Marinkovic was most recently at Saatchi & Saatchi LA.
Favio Ucedo has been named chief creative officer at Wing, based in the Hispanic agency’s New York office. Ucedo was most recently executive creative director at Grupo Gallegos.
The Minneapolis Star Tribune has promoted Rene Sanchez to senior vice president and editor, replacing the outgoing Nancy Barnes, who is becoming editor at The Houston Chronicle. Sanchez had been managing editor at the newspaper.
The Week has named Tim Koorbusch publisher, replacing departed publisher Michael Wolfe. Koorbusch was previously vice president of U.S. sales at Say Media.
Laura Brounstein is joining Cosmopolitan magazine as special projects director, beginning on Nov. 1. Brounstein had been editorial director for the teen group at Bauer Publishing.
Atlantic Media Strategies has made four additions, naming Mark Drapeau director of strategy and insights, Kristin Hume director of marketing and branding, Stevie-Nicole Belchak strategy and communications manager, and Brian Akpa web developer. Drapeau joins from Microsoft, Hume from The Atlantic and Akpa from Ogilvy PR. Belchak has previously worked for Luvocracy, Skillshare and SALT Branding.
