ABC’s “Desperate Housewives” is long gone, but a lawsuit against the show lives on. Actress Nicollette Sheridan first sued ABC, series creator Marc Cherry and Touchstone for $20 million in 2010, claiming her “Housewives” contract wasn’t renewed in retaliation for complaining about unsafe work conditions following an on-set argument with Cherry. Following a series of trials and appeals, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge has now ordered a new trial, although a date has not been set.
MEC has named Stephen Blumberg managing partner, working with the agency’s global Marriott account. Blumberg joins from MediaVest, where he was senior vice president and group client director.
Julieann Vukovich has been named chief talent officer at Havas Worldwide North America, reporting to global CTO Patti Clifford. Vukovich was previously senior vice president and director of human resources at Cramer-Krasselt.
Mebrulin Francisco has joined GroupM Multicultural, becoming director of its new multicultural marketing analytics unit. Francisco was previously an analytics supervisor at MEC.
Buying agency American Target Network has brought in Brett Charest, naming him vice president of radio networks. Charest was previously media buying director at Barrington Media Group.
Cornerstone Agency has made a pair of additions, naming Erica Mapa senior account executive and Becky Bayles public relations manager. Mapa was previously at Formula PR, while Bayles arrives from DeVries SLAM.
Crown Media Family Networks has made a handful of moves, including promoting Darren Melameth to senior vice president of program planning and acquisitions and Randy Pope to senior vice president of programming and development. The company has also brought in Prospect Park TV’s Laurie Ferneau, naming her director of programming for scripted series.
President Barack Obama’s first post-State of the Union interview is going to CNN. Obama will sit down with anchor Jake Tapper for an interview to air on Friday, appearing on “New Day” in the morning and “The Lead” that afternoon.
Tom Lofthouse has been promoted to senior vice president of programming at Discovery Digital Networks, Discovery Communications’ online video business. Lofthouse had been vice president of programming and production. Before joining Discovery he was at Current TV.
SupersonicAds, which runs an ad-based app platform for the web and mobile, has made three hires, naming Dock Kim vice president of advertiser sales, Harish Thimmappa vice president of mobile user acquisition, and Rob Banning head of global marketing and communications. Kim joins from LeadBolt, Thimmappa from Playnomics, and Banning from Scripps Networks Interactive.
New You magazine has named Kithe Brewster fashion director, effective immediately. Brewster is a personal stylist who has previously worked with celebrities including Julianne Moore, Natalie Portman and Heidi Klum.
