SofiaVergaraABC has ordered a pilot for “Killer Women,” an hour-long procedural drama to be executive produced by “Modern Family” actress Sofia Vergara. The show is an adaptation of the Argentinean series “Mujeres Asesinas” and will focus on a female Texas Ranger. The show will also be executive produced by Martin Campbell and Hannah Shakespeare, and Shakespeare will write the pilot script.

Farrell Meisel has been named director of development at Global Agency, which distributes TV content from around the world. Meisel has previously held positions at Turner, HBO International, Viacom International and News Corp.

 

Agencies

 

Doner has named Ryan Linder senior vice president and chief growth officer, a newly created position at the agency. Linder was previously executive vice president and chief marketing and growth officer at Zimmerman.

Javier Campopiano has been named chief creative officer in DraftFCB’s New York office, effective Feb. 4. Campopiano will join from the agency’s Argentina office, where he is executive creative director.

Ogilvy & Mather has named Brian Cooper executive creative director, working out of the agency’s London office. Cooper joins from Apple, where he was head of creative and strategy in Europe, the Middle East and Africa for its mobile ad platform iAd.

 

CableTV

 

CMT has named Katie Buchanan senior vice president of programming strategy, based in the network’s Nashville office. Buchanan was most recently senior vice president of programming and acquisitions at Style Network.

Fox News Channel has named Eric Bolling host of “Cashin’ In,” a new weekend show focusing on personal finance. Bolling is also a co-host on the network’s “The Five.”

CNBC has brought in Josh Lipton as a markets reporter, appearing on the TV network and also contributing to CNBC.com. Lipton joins from Bloomberg TV, where he was markets editor.

Showtime has added two to the cast of “Dexter” for its eighth season, Charlotte Rampling as a neuro-psychiatrist and Sean Patrick Flannery as a private investigator. Rampling’s most recent TV appearance was in the TV movie “Restless,” while Flannery recently appeared in a few episodes of “Breaking In.”

 

Newspapers

 

The Los Angeles Times has promoted Mark Porubcansky, naming him the paper’s new foreign editor. Porubcansky joined the paper in 1998 as assistant foreign editor, and before that he was at the Associated Press.

 

NewMedia

 

Peter Cherukuri has been named senior vice president of advertising and business development at Politico, working alongside chief revenue officer Roy Schwartz. Cherukuri had been vice president and general manager of the Washington, D.C., bureau at AOL-Huffington Post.

Non-profit news organization ProPublica has brought in Joe Sexton as a senior editor, beginning in February. Sexton was previously sports editor at The New York Times.
