JonWilliamsABC News has named Jon Williams managing editor for international news, based in New York beginning in March. Williams will join ABC from the BBC, where he is world editor. ABC’s international coverage had been led by Marcus Wilford, who will remain a London-based consultant for the network.

Cristina Palacio has been named president at Shine Hispanic & Latin America, a new division of the production company Shine America. Palacio was previously founder and president at the production BE-TV in Colombia.

Former “Star Trek” actor George Takei has signed on to guest on ABC’s “The Neighbors,” appearing in the show’s season finale. Takei will play the father of a character named Larry Bird.

NBC has added Juliette Goglia to the cast of its upcoming Michael J. Fox comedy, playing the daughter of the former “Family Ties” actor’s character. Goglia most recently made a guest appearance on Disney’s “Good Luck Charlie.”

Arnold Worldwide has named David Fisher director of integrated production in its New York office, reporting to co-chief creative officers Aaron Griffiths and John Staffen. Fisher had been an executive producer and production director at TBWA/Chiat/Day.

Young & Rubicam has brought in Eric Jannon and Chris Northam as creative directors, based in the agency’s New York office. Jannon joins from Marcel in France, Northam from George Patterson Y&R in Australia.

Baptiste Clinet has been promoted in the Paris office at Ogilvy & Mather, becoming a creative director. Before he joined Ogilvy, Clinet was at Fred & Farid.

 

CableTV

 

Discovery Channel has promoted Dolores Gavin, naming her executive vice president of development and production for the East Coast. Gavin had been senior vice president and helped develop the shows “Moonshiners” and “Amish Mafia,” among others.

Elsewhere at Discovery, the company has promoted Nancy Daniels to general manager of Discovery Fitness & Health. Daniels will also continue her role as Discovery Channel’s executive vice president of production and development for the West coast.

Turner has signed on sports reporter Rachel Nichols to work with both Turner Sports and CNN, including a spot as anchor of a new weekend sports show on CNN beginning later this year. Nichols, who makes the move after nine years at ESPN, will also contribute to TBS and TNT’s coverage of MLB baseball and NBA basketball.

Actress Brooke Shields has joined the cast of Lifetime’s “Army Wives” for its upcoming seventh season, playing an Air Force colonel. The former “Suddenly Susan” star most recently guested on ABC’s “The Middle.”

Former “Jackass” star Bam Margera is making a return to TV, starring in TBS’s “Bam’s Bad Ass Game Show,” according to Deadline. The cable network has ordered six episodes of the show, which combines trivia and potentially dangerous stunts.

The Traffic Audit Bureau for Media Measurement (TAB) has made a number of additions, including naming Jeff Casper senior vice president of measurement and operations. The group has also made five other hires, naming Larry Hennessy senior vice president of member services, Sean McCarthy senior vice president of information and technology, Shawn Ballard vice president of finance, Ian Knight vice president of member communications and Dylan Mabin vice president of research.
