Alberto Ciurana, president of programming and content at Univision, is leaving his position to spend more time with his family. He will remain on in a consulting role during a transition period until a successor is found. Ciurana first joined Univision in 1986 before leaving to work at Televisa, returning to Univision in 2012.
CW has added Johnathon Schaech to the cast of “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” playing the character Jonah Hex. Schaech previously made a pair of appearances on ABC’s “Quantico.”
Carla Serrano has been promoted to chief executive officer at Publicis Worldwide New York, reporting to North America chief executive Andrew Bruce. Serrano joined the agency in 2014 as chief strategy officer.
Horizon Media has named Larry Curran vice president of talent acquisition, reporting to chief talent officer Eileen Benwitt. Curran had been manager of customer success at LinkedIn.
Arnold Worldwide has made two hires, naming Marc Sobier and Greg Farley senior vice presidents and group creative directors. The duo was previously at Y&R NY.
South Carolina agency Erwin Penland has named Mike Lear executive vice president and executive creative director, based in the agency’s Greenville office. Lear was previously at The Martin Agency.
Sports licensing and marketing agency Learfield Sports has promoted Katie Davison, naming her vice president of digital operations. Davison had been senior director and general manager of digital media.
Claudia Malley has been named chief marketing and brand officer at National Geographic Partners, the joint venture between the National Geographic Society and 21st Century Fox. Malley had been executive vice president of global partnerships for the National Geographic Society. The company has also named John Campbell senior vice president of global media, working with its print, digital and social platforms. Campbell has been with the company since 2007.
Lifetime has named Mioshi Hill vice president of non-fiction programming, reporting to senior vice president Eli Lehrer. Hill was previously senior vice president of development and creative affairs at Hudsun Media.
John McCauley has been promoted at the movie theater advertising company Screenvision, rising to chief strategic development officer. McCauley had been chief marketing officer.
The Root, a news and opinion site targeting African Americans, has brought in Jason Johnson as its new political editor. Johnson was most recently at The Chicago Defender, where he was a political columnist.
Gian LaVecchia has been named vice president of client strategy and development at Verve, a location-based mobile advertising company. LaVecchia was most recently managing partner and North American digital content marketing leader at MEC Global.
Mike Francesa, the popular sports radio personality on New York’s WFAN, says he will leave the station at the end of 2017, although he won’t necessarily be leaving the industry. Francesa told the “Garbage Time Podcast” with Katie Nolan, “I am not saying I’m not going to work again. I’m not saying I’m not going to do anything ever again. What I’m saying is, that part of my life, at the end of ’17, that is ending.”
