If you're searching for s*x, head for .xxx
At last, no more wondering whether you’ve stumbled on a porn site or just a really skanky one. Nine new Internet domain names, including ".xxx" for adult content and ".mail" for spam-free communications, could be the new suffixes on the block. Later this year, the new endings may be joining their popular cyber neighbors “.com” and “.net” on the web. The Internet Corporation for the Assignment of Names and Numbers (ICANN), an internet governing body, said 10 organizations had filed proposals for the new Web domains in time for last week's deadline. The domains will go through a two-month approval process before possible ratification. If they are all accepted, it would bring the number of top-level domains to more than 20. The public can comment on the issue during April. Expanding the list of top level domains to meet the needs of internet users is one of  ICANN's main priorities.

Virginia prof sez he didn't lampoon Laura
The praises keep coming to James M. Kauffman, a University of Virginia education professor emeritus, for a parody he wrote about the anti-homosexual pronouncements of conservative radio talk show host Laura Schlessinger. But he actually didn’t write it. Kauffman has been bombarded daily with phone calls and emails congratulating him on the letter which satirizes Schlessinger's use of scriptural citations in moral contexts. One portion asks Schlessinger’s advice about prohibitions against touching the skin of a dead pig citing Leviticus 11:6-8 — "may I still play football if I wear gloves?" Kaufmann is not sure how a version of the letter with his name and title on it ended up circulating.

$-seeking lesbian sells her virginity online
Has online auctioning become the new prostitution? Eighteen-year-old Bristol University student Rosie Reid sold her virginity to the highest bidder, who happened to be a 44-year-old divorced father of two. Her lesbian partner, Jess Cameron, stayed in the same hotel while Reid consummated the deal. Reid told the News of the World, "It was horrible ... I felt nervous and scared." The next morning she and Cameron "just cried and cried.” But Reid got what she wanted. According to the newspaper, the London woman had sex with the BT engineer after he gave her a banker's check in the amount of 8,400 pounds. Reid’s sale of self started as a joke but became a reality after she decided she would rather sleep with a stranger than be faced with tremendous debt from her education. She received offers from more than 2,000 men around the world. Her ad first appeared on eBay, which later withdrew it. She continued the sale from her personal web site.

Harry hoax: Email tricks Potter fan into long trip
Harry Potter is not the only one who lives in a world of illusions. A young Potter fan was the victim of a cruel and unusual internet joke earlier this month. A jokester posing as actor Daniel Radcliffe, who plays the role of Harry in the big-screen movies, led a young girl from Chile, South America, to believe she had won a chance to meet the teenage star. She and her mother traveled 3,625 miles to Radcliffe’s London home only to find the email was a hoax, and she wouldn’t be able to meet the actor. Daniel’s father has warned fans to be aware of people posing as his son in internet chat rooms.
