'The Player,' UPN's
urban 'Dating Game'

They have street smarts, but do they have charm?

Everybody’s met one of those guys. You know, the ones who think they can have any woman they want? Well, just imagine what it would be like to take 13 of those guys and set them loose after one woman.
That's the premise of “The Player,” which kicks off tonight on UPN at 9.
Dawn, the object of these so-called players’ affections, brings along two friends to a South Beach mansion and will eliminate (or is it player-hate?) contestants week-by-week until one remains.
One thing Dawn may have forgotten to take into consideration: when all is said and done, the one she chooses is still a self-proclaimed player. And you know how those guys are.
