Britney's blitz puts
her in 'The Zone'

Blonde ambition? Nah, she's got a new CD.

After she kissed Madonna on national television and posed nearly nude for Rolling Stone and Esquire magazines, it may be a surprise that ABC decided to air a Britney Spears special during the 8 p.m. family hour
But its no surprise that the Disney-owned network wanted to support one of its former Mouseketeers, especially one who at the tender age of 20 ranked No. 1 on Forbes' 2002 power list of the top 100 celebrities (she failed to make the list this year with no new album or movie flop to promote and sell).
Tonight's one hour program is just one element in a recent blitz of media to promote the debut of Britney's fourth album, "In the Zone," due in stores tomorrow.
The special, aptly named "Britney Spears: In the Zone,"' includes exclusive performance footage from New York City's Gotham Hall and a behind-the- scenes look at the life of this popstar.
In other words, it will be a show rich with hip-shaking, high-energy lip-syncing and low on intelligent discourse.
