NBA finals game four lifts ABC to first
Averages a 4.9 in 18-49s, more than double No. 2 Fox
June 20, 2012
ABC's game four of the NBA finals dominated the competition once again last night as the Miami Heat came within one game of wrapping up a championship.
ABC more than doubled the night's No. 2 network, Fox, with a 4.9 rating and 14 share in adults 18-49 in primetime, according to Nielsen. Fox averaged a 2.1/6.
The game peaked with a 6.5 in the 10 p.m. hour, including a 6.9 at 10:30.
Ratings for the NBA are approximate as fast nationals measure timeslot and not actual program data.
There wasn't a lot of competition to speak of last night; Fox was the only other Big Four network with all-original programming.
The network's "Hell's Kitchen" remained even to last week with a 2.2, and lead-out "MasterChef" was down slightly from the previous week to a 2.0.
With ABC well ahead and Fox in second, NBC placed third in primetime at 1.5/4, Univision fourth at 1.3/4, CBS fifth at 1.2/4, Telemundo sixth at 0.4/1 and CW seventh at 0.3/1.
As a reminder, all ratings are based on live-plus-same-day DVR playback, which includes shows replayed before 3 a.m. the night before. Seven-day DVR data won't be available for several weeks. Forty-four percent of Nielsen households have DVRs.
ABC was first during each hour of the night, beginning with a 2.6 at 8 p.m. for "Jimmy Kimmel Live: Game Night" (2.5) and "NBA Countdown" (2.8), followed by Fox with a 2.2 for "Kitchen." NBC was third with a 1.5 for a repeat of "America's Got Talent," CBS fourth with a 1.3 for an "NCIS" rerun, Univision fifth with a 1.1 for "Un Refugio para el Amor," and CW and Telemundo tied for sixth at 0.4, CW for "The Catalina" and Telemundo for "Una Maid en Manhattan."
At 9 p.m. ABC extended its lead with a 5.4 for basketball, while Fox remained second with a 2.0 for "MasterChef." NBC was third with a 1.8 for another "Talent" rerun, Univision fourth with a 1.3 for "Abismo de Amor," CBS fifth with a 1.2 for a repeat of "NCIS: Los Angeles," Telemundo sixth with a 0.4 for "Corazon Valiente" and CW seventh with a 0.2 for a repeat of "The L.A. Complex."
ABC was first again at 10 p.m. with a 6.5 for basketball, with Univision second with a 1.5 for "La Que No Podia Amar." NBC was third with a 1.3 for "Love in the Wild," CBS fourth with a 1.1 for a repeat of "48 Hours Mystery" and Telemundo fifth with a 0.4 for "Relaciones Peligrosas."
Among households, ABC finished first for the night at 7.1/12, CBS was second at 4.8/8, NBC third at 3.7/6, Fox fourth at 3.1/5, Univision fifth at 1.8/3, Telemundo sixth at 0.7/1 and CW seventh at 0.6/1.
