Facebook agrees to toughen security for users
Facebook bullies beware: The world’s second-largest online social network says it's adding more than 40 new safeguards to protect users, especially younger ones. The safeguards, much like those adopted by Facebook’s bigger rival MySpace earlier this year, come as part of an agreement reached with attorneys general from 49 states. The additional protections are designed not only to protect users of the growing and popular online hangout from internet bullies but also from fraudsters and sexual predators. Convicted sex offenders are banned from using Facebook, and the new safeguards makes it more difficult for them to identify underage subscribers. Facebook has also agreed to be part of a task force that will work to improve age verification for its users. The tougher protections are being proclaimed as good first steps by child safety experts.
Madonna cuts a deal with major online ticket vendors
The Material Girl is breaking new concert ground by cutting a deal with an online ticket reseller to sell tickets for a concert tour that kicks off this summer. EBay’s StubHub will offer seats at a markup to U.S. and Canadian fans who can’t get tickets through their usual local vendors, such as Ticketmaster, which typically sell out for major concerts. Viagogo will provide a similar service in Europe but it will also sell VIP packages with more expensive tickets, backstage passes, and a chance to meet the great Madge herself. While sports teams and leagues have longed worked with secondary ticket sellers, this is a first for a major music artist. Performers and concert promoters have balked at dealing with the resellers, who often mark up tickets to prices that are way beyond face value. As part of the deal, StubHub will give Madonna and her promoter LiveNation a slice of total ticket sales. Viagogo is paying a flat fee.

He’s had one taker, who's already invested nearly $53,000 Canadian dollars. The biggest investors will receive billing as assistant producer.
