Artists and fans are mourning Don Cornelius, the longtime host of "Soul Train," who was found dead in his home early yesterday morning from an apparent suicide at age 75. Police say Cornelius died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound and that foul play has been ruled out. As a tribute BET tonight will re-air the 2011 "Soul Train Awards," while Centric is in the midst of a 24-hour "Soul Train" marathon. Centric will also air the 2011 "Soul Train Awards" on Friday at 9 p.m., the 2010 version on Saturday at 10, and a pair of 12-hour "Soul Train" marathons on Saturday and Sunday. Finally, Bounce TV will also air a seven-hour marathon of "Soul Train" episodes on Saturday beginning at 7 p.m.

National Geographic Channels International has promoted Germaine Deagan Sweet, naming her senior vice president of global content sales. She was previously vice president.

Kelly Evans has joined CNBC as an on-air reporter, based out of London. Evans had been a columnist at The Wall Street Journal and co-anchor of its online morning newscast, "The News Hub."

Chris Klein is guesting on TNT's "Franklin & Bash" in the upcoming second season, according to Entertainment Weekly, playing a high school friend of Mark-Paul Gosselaar's character. Klein most recently appeared on FX's "Wilfred."


Michelle Lee has been named senior vice president of content and editorial director at Hollywood.com, based in the web site's New York office. Lee was most recently editor in chief at InTouch Weekly.

Nancy Lane has been named executive producer at CBSNews.com, putting her in charge of all of CBS News' digital platforms. Lane was previously senior vice president of editorial at CNN.

Yahoo News has a new White House correspondent, naming Olivier Knox to the position. Knox was previously congressional correspondent at Agence France-Press.

The Poynter Institute has named Andrew Beaujon a senior online reporter, beginning later this month. Beaujon joins from TBD, where he was arts editor since May 2010.



Eric Czechowski has been named head of insight for the Americas at Ink, which publishes in-flight magazines for airlines. Czechowski had been in charge of the marketing and sales support department at Pace Communications for Southwest Airlines Spirit, US Airways magazine, and Four Seasons magazine.

Alexis Clark has been named editor at Charity & Social Datebook, a new annual guide from Manhattan magazine focusing on charity and cultural events. Clark was most recently a senior editor at Town & Country.


Kevin Bacon is close to signing on with Fox to star in an upcoming drama pilot from "Vampire Diaries" showrunner Kevin Williamson, playing an ex-FBI agent in the midst of a cult of serial killers. If the series is picked up it will run for 15 episodes per season rather than the traditional 22 so Bacon can work on other projects.



Ad agency DOJO has added John O'Hea as a creative in its San Francisco office, reporting to Geoff Edwards and Mauro Alencar. O'Hea joins from Goodby Silverstein & Partners, where he was an art director and associate creative director.


Clear Channel Outdoor Americas has promoted Rocky Sisson to chief revenue officer, a new position at the company. Sisson was previously executive vice president of sales and marketing.
