  NBCOlympics.com outpacing '04 and '06 combined
Olympic ratings are outpacing Athens 2004 at a healthy clip, but NBCOlympics.com page views are absolutely obliterating the numbers from two and four years earlier. Through the first eight days of the Beijing Games, the network’s Olympic site has generated 628 million page views, or 12 percent more than the combined total for the full Torino 2006 and Athens 2004 Games, which totaled 561 million. Some 31.1 million videos have been streamed on the site, almost three times the combined total of Torino and Athens, which drew 10.8 million. Of course this year NBCOlympics.com has a lot more offerings than in past Games. It’s providing live feeds from 25 sports, the first time it has used live video, and has many more hours of on-demand highlights and features.

Blame Bono for the latest U2 tracks leaked on web
Was Bono engaging in a little pro-bono for U2 fans? Apparently the Irish rock band U2's famous frontman is to blame for the unauthorized online release of a handful of songs from the band's upcoming album, at least inadvertently. Four songs from "No Line On The Horizon" were reportedly posted on YouTube after a passerby heard and recorded the songs Bono was playing loudly on his stereo in his villa in the south of France. The songs, including the track "Sexy Boots," are no longer available on the popular video-sharing site. U2 has had previous trouble with unreleased music getting into the wrong hands. Just before the release of their last album, "How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb," a CD containing unfinished music from the album was stolen at a photo shoot, also in the south of France. Those tracks, however, never leaked, though finished ones from the CD eventually went online early.

With its launch next week, WB.com adding shows
If you’re missing your “Firefly” fix but don’t want to pay for the downloads, The WB.com will soon come to your rescue. Just over a week before its much-anticipated launch on Aug. 27, the former TV network has said it will offer full episodes of “Angel,” Babylon 5,” “In Living Color,” “The Loop” and “MADtv” in addition to the sci-fi “Firefly” to its ad-supported video-on-demand network. That’s in addition to the previously announced "Gilmore Girls," "The O.C.," "One Tree Hill," “Friends,” "Smallville" and "Veronica Mars," among others. In addition the site will feature several new web shows aimed at the younger set, including “Blue Water High,” which is set in a surf academy Down Under, and “A Boy Wearing Makeup,” a personal video diary of a boy who dispenses makeup advice and fashion tips. Meanwhile, WBlender allows users to take clips from WB shows such as “Friends” and “The O.C.” to create mash-ups.

Obama sets hearts a-Twitter as its most-followed man
Who’s the most-followed man on Twitter, the site that tracks the daily activities of the technology-inclined? Hint: You can also find him on television a lot. Presumptive Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has passed Digg.com founder Kevin Rose for that distinction with 59,473 loyal followers as of this morning, according to Twitter stat tracker Twitterholic.com. That’s compared with Rose’s 57,341 followers as of about 7:30 a.m. Life of Leo blogger Leo Laporte, a U.S.-based journalist specializing in tech coverage on TV, radio and online, comes in third with 53,036 followers, and CNN Breaking News has 31,458 followers. Comparatively presumptive presidential Republican nominee John McCain has a little more than 1,500 followers on Twitter.
