Comedy Central has named Lauren Corrao president of original programming and development, where she will be responsible for the supervision of all original programming for the network. Corrao was previously executive vice president of original programming and development.
Animal Planet and Discovery Kids Media have named Rick Holzman senior vice president of programming and Marc Etkind as vice president of development. Holzman was previously with Discovery Channel, while Etkind was at The History channel.
Meredith Video Solutions has named Kieran G. Clarke executive vice president and general manager. Clarke will now be in charge of operations in Portland, Des Moines and New York.
News and opinion magazine The Week has named Jed Hartman publisher, to head up the print and online advertising efforts. Hartman joins from the Fortune/Money group, where he was sales director of the New York office.
Smithsonian magazine has named Maria Guerrere Keehan as art director, succeeding Brian Noyes, who is leaving to launch a gourmet food business. Keehan joins from Fortune, where she had been associate art director.

Ellen DeGeneres, who was given a dressing down by the Writers Guild of America for continuing to tape her show during the writers’ strike, has canceled plans to tape episodes of her talk show in New York City next week after the union planned to picket. DeGeneres will instead tape out of her home studio in Burbank.
Delbert Mann, who directed the original live television version of "Marty," died Sunday of pneumonia at the age of 87. "Marty" aired on NBC in 1953, and was later made into a movie that won Mann an Oscar in 1955.
The Associated Press has named Amy Finkelstein business news editor for New York. Previously she had been European business editor. David McHugh has been promoted from Germany bureau chief to European business editor to succeed Finkelstein.
