Cable sports network Versus has brought in Joe Brown, naming him vice president of research. Brown joins from Fox, where he was senior director of audience intelligence and research strategy.

USA has added Michael Trucco and Virginia Williams to the cast of “Facing Kate,” about a lawyer who becomes a divorce mediator. Williams will play the main character’s stepmother, and Trucco will play Kate’s ex-husband.

Disney Channel has ordered a second season of “Jonas,” which stars Kevin, Joe and Nick Jonas. The new season will follow the brothers as they vacation in Los Angeles and land various jobs in show business.

Bubbly Food Network personality Rachael Ray has perked up the town of Wilmington, Ohio. Ray has donated new appliances to a soup kitchen in the town, and she’ll supply food for the kitchen for the next year. Unemployment in Wilmington has shot up to 15 percent following the closing of a few area businesses.


Make sure to get Kiersten Hollars’ AIM ID. Hollars has joined AOL, becoming senior director of corporate communications. She was previously director of communications at Digg.

Justice is now served by Ryan J. Reilly. He has joined the legal web site Main Justice, where he’ll work as a reporter. Reilly was previously a researcher at Bloomberg News.

Add Mark Schone’s name to the Blotter. Schone has been named managing editor at Blotter, an investigative news web site run by ABCNews.com. He had been executive news editor at Salon.




CBS’s “NCIS” is about to add a little realism. United States Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus is scheduled to guest on the Nov. 24 episode of the show, according to TV Guide. Mabus will play an NCIS agent on the episode.

"Good Morning America" will be getting a new co-host to replace Diane Sawyer sometime soon, but even sooner it's getting a new producer. Eric Sherling has joined ABC News as a producer on “GMA.” Sherling was previously an executive producer for "The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer" on CNN.

Actress Julianne Moore is set to guest on NBC’s “30 Rock,” perhaps playing a love interest of Alec Baldwin’s character. There’s no word yet on when the episode will air.

In other NBC guest-star news, Elliott Gould is scheduled to appear on “Law & Order,” on the Nov. 20 episode. Gould will play a business owner who’s sick of the crime in his neighborhood.

Things aren’t so golden lately for former “Golden Girls” star Rue McClanahan. She underwent heart bypass surgery last Wednesday in New York, which reportedly went well. Doctors found problems with McClanahan’s heart while performing tests for a knee operation.


John W. Mashek, a longtime political reporter and columnist, died last week at age 77 of a heart attack. Mashek wrote for a number of publications throughout his career, including the Dallas Morning News, the Atlanta Constitution and the Boston Globe. After he retired in 1995 Mashek wrote opinion pieces for U.S. News & World Report.



Joe Francis, founder of “Girls Gone Wild,” was sentenced in a Los Angeles court to one year probation and 301 days of jail already served for omitting more than a half-million dollars in interest income from his tax returns in 2003. Francis doesn’t have any travel restrictions under the plea deal, but he must inform authorities if he intends to leave the country.
