Hulk Hogan’s returning to wrestling, but not at WWE. The legendary wrestler has joined TNA Wrestling, although exactly what role he’ll have at the company hasn’t been announced yet. TNA airs a weekly show entitled “iMPACT!” on Spike TV on Thursdays at 9 p.m.
Give her a “C.” Actress Gabourey Sidibe is in talks with Showtime to join the upcoming comedy “The C Word,” which stars Laura Linney as a teacher who’s diagnosed with cancer. Sidibe would play one of Linney’s students.
Robert Haskitt is going to the Extreme. He has been named chief marketing officer at Extreme Reach, a video advertising technology company. Haskitt was most recently director of marketing at Microsoft Advertising.
Politico is going local, so to speak. The politics-focused site’s owner, Robert Allbritton, is working on a new site that will feature local news for Washington, D.C., and the surrounding area, including original reporting and news aggregation. Allbritton has signed on former WashingtonPost.com editor Jim Brady to run the new site.
What the Huff? Fred Schulte has been named senior reporter at the Huffington Post Investigative Fund, HuffPo’s investigative journalism arm. Schulte is a former investigative reporter at The Baltimore Sun.
There will soon be a new head at Clear Channel Communications. President and chief financial officer Randall Mays is leaving the company, stepping down once a new CFO is found. Mays’ brother Mark, who is the company’s chief executive officer, will add president to his title.
Cordner Nelson, co-creator and editor of Track & Field News, died earlier this week of T-cell lymphoma at age 91. Nelson and his brother, Bert, came up with the magazine after becoming fascinated with Olympic athletes at the 1932 Summer Games in Los Angeles.
Roberta Haber is returning to broadcast, this time TV. The Sponsorship Group for Public Television, PBS’s national sponsorship department, has named Haber director of marketing for corporate sponsorship, in charge of national and local sponsorships. Haber previously worked in the agency world and before that was a radio personality and music director.
Jolina Asuncion has joined National Television Sales, becoming vice president and director of sales. Asuncion joins from Fox, where she was a national television and interactive account executive.
Once a “Friend,” always a “Friend.” Lisa Kudrow has signed on with ABC to guest on “Cougar Town,” which of course stars her former “Friends” co-star Courteney Cox. Kudrow will play a dermatologist in an episode that will air early next year.
Actor Idris Elba is executive producing a legal drama at NBC about a lawyer who does all he can to defend people in a corrupt city. Elba guested on seven episodes of “The Office” last season.
Weather-wise, Baird Helgeson may not know what he’s getting himself into. Helgeson has joined the Star Tribune in Minneapolis as a state government reporter, based in the paper’s St. Paul bureau. Helgeson was previously a news reporter at the warmer-climed Tampa Tribune.
Walton | Isaacson, an agency with offices in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York and Tokyo, has named Ed Han executive creative director. Han had been senior vice president and creative director at Publicis New York.
