Fuse, the cable music network, has named Angie O’Keefe vice president of business development, putting her in charge of new ventures. O’Keefe previously held a similar position at KickApps Corp.
Golf Channel is in talks with former NBA star Charles Barkley for a new series that would show the former basketballer receiving golf tips from famed trainer Hank Haney. The series would begin sometime next year.
Percy Miller, also known as rapper Master P, is launching Better Black Television, a cable network that will air family-friendly content. The new network is scheduled to launch sometime in 2009.
Cristian de la Fuente, who plays the boyfriend of Mary McCormack’s character on USA’s “In Plain Sight,” has signed on with the network to become a series regular when the show returns for season two next year. De la Fuente previously had a recurring role.
HBO has signed on Alan Taylor to direct the pilot episode of “Bored to Death,” which stars Jason Schwartzman as a struggling writer with a drinking problem. Taylor has won an Emmy for his work on “The Sopranos.”
Elle magazine has added Emily Hebert to its staff, naming her associate beauty editor for Elle.com and ElleGirl.com. Hebert was previously associate fashion and beauty editor at Alloy.com.
Stephanie Galluzzo, associate editor at Parenting magazine, has left the title, effective immediately. Her responsibilities will be shared by deputy editor Elizabeth Anne Shaw and assistant editor Annie Schoening.
CBS Paramount Network Television has named Meg Liberman senior vice president of casting, reporting to executive vice president of talent and casting Peter Golden. Liberman previously ran a casting company with Cami Patton.
Actor Craig Phillip Robinson, best known as Darryl from NBC’s “The Office,” has been charged by Los Angeles County prosecutors with two felony counts of drug possession and one count of being under the influence of illegal drugs. Robinson was arrested on June 29 for allegedly possessing Ecstasy.
Leroy Sievers, a former producer of ABC’s “Nightline” and author of the National Public Radio blog “My Cancer,” died on Friday at age 53. Sievers was first diagnosed with colon cancer in 2001 and was treated, only for it to return in his brain and lung in 2005.
Legend Media, an ad company that focuses on the Chinese radio market, has named Jennifer Xia finance director, where she’ll help find new marketing opportunities. Xia was previously a financial controller for Best Buy.
Ketchum, a public relations and marketing agency, has brought in John Patterson as senior vice president and account director for the company’s corporate practice. Patterson had been a director at Capgemini.
TV host and comedienne Ellen DeGeneres and actress Portia de Rossi got married at their home in Beverly Hills over the weekend, according to reports in People and Us Weekly. California’s same-sex marriage law took effect back on June 16.
