In an investor conference call yesterday, Google senior vice president of product management Jonathan Rosenberg admitted that the company has been disappointed with efforts to translate its innovative online ad approach to offline advertising. The government has argued that the testimony was obtained illegally, while the paper has argued that the First Amendment protects their rights as reporters to maintain confidential sources. According to the Chronicle, the motion argues that even if the law was broken, the benefits of breaking the story outweighed any illegal acts.
