Restaurateur and interior designer Barbara Lazaroff has signed a new deal with reality production company Evolution Media. In the series Lazaroff will mentor people as they open their own restaurants.

Cable operator Cox Media Hampton Roads in Virginia has hired Cy Prince as its new general sales manager. Prince will be in charge of ad sales in Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Newport News, Hampton, Williamsburg, James City County and York County.

Discovery Channel has nabbed “CSI: NY” actor Gary Sinise to narrate its upcoming miniseries “When We Left Earth: The NASA Missions,” which launches June 8. The program will give viewers a high-definition look at space exploration.

Actor Hector Elizondo has joined the cast of USA’s “Monk,” portraying Tony Shalhoub’s new counselor. Elizondo joins following last month’s death of Stanley Kamel, who played Adrian Monk’s therapist, Dr. Charles Kroger.


People magazine’s People StyleWatch web site has named Emily McLintock marketing director. McLintock had been group marketing director at Niche Media.



Meredith 360, which helps advertisers run integrated campaigns across Meredith properties, has named Jack Bamberger chief innovation officer and Jeannine Shao Collins senior vice president of client solutions. Bamberger was previously a senior vice president who worked with both Meredith 360 and corporate sales, while Shao Collins led Meredith’s women’s lifestyle group.

Kelley Gott has been named associate publisher at domino magazine, where she will help with global ad sales. Gott was previously with Time magazine as worldwide publishing director.

Rodale senior vice president David Willey, the editor in chief of Runner’s World and editorial director of Running Times, has been elected president of the American Society of Magazine Editors. Willey is the first ASME president based outside of New York City in more than 10 years.


CBS Corp. executive chairman Sumner Redstone apparently isn’t a fan of ultimate fighting, which is a small problem since CBS president and CEO Les Moonves has entered a deal to air the sport this year on the broadcast network. Speaking at a panel discussion at the Milken Institute Global Conference, Redstone said yesterday that bringing Elite Xtreme Combat to CBS is socially irresponsible and that Moonves did so without asking him. But later he clarified to reporters, “I want to send a message. Les, I’m not criticizing you. Don’t call me tonight.”

ABC has signed “My Wife and Kids” star Damon Wayans for “Never Better,” about a former alcoholic who wants to get his life on the right track. The pilot is produced by ABC Studios.



GroupM Entertainment and Ogilvy North America are joining to create branded content for mutual clients in an effort to be led by Ogilvy Entertainment president Doug Scott. Scott will report to Ogilvy North America co-CEOs Bill Gray and Carla Hendra and GroupM Entertainment CEO Peter Tortorici.

Ipsh!, the wireless marketing and mobile media agency of Omnicom’s The Marketing Arm, has named Brad Vettese executive vice president and managing director of the West Coast. Vettese was previously chief executive officer at mobile communications company Teleflip.

MedThink Communications, a medical communications, brand development, advertising and public relations agency, has made two hires: Steven Palmisano as vice president of medical communications and Syed Moinuddin as account director.
