Let it burn: Coby Bell has joined USA’s “Burn Notice,” playing a man who can take on multiple identities. “Burn Notice” will return for a fourth season this summer.


Joe Strupp is now covering media in a new venue. Strupp has joined the non-profit media site Media Matters for America, where he’ll work as a senior editor and investigative reporter. He already has his first piece up, which ponders: "Did Newsday reassign two reporters after receiving complaints from Steve Levy, the county executive of Suffolk County, New York?" Strupp was previously at Editor & Publisher, most recently as a senior editor.

Tyler Tanaka has been named account director at PostRelease, an online advertising technology company. Tanaka spent the past 12 years at Turbonetics, where he was marketing manager.




A former winner is returning to ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.” Season seven winner Brooke Burke has signed on as co-host, joining Tom Bergeron and replacing Samantha Harris. Burke’s previous TV experience includes hosting duties on “Wild On!” and “Rock Star: INXS.”

Univision Communications has realigned its management to put a greater focus on news, and in the process it has named Alina Falcón to the newly created position of president of news. As a part of the realignment Univision has also named Luis Fernández president of entertainment, also a new position. Falcón was previously executive vice president and operating manager for the Univision Network, while Fernández was president of Univision Studios.

Tribune Broadcasting has elevated Ann Casey, naming her director of broadcast metrics. Casey, who was previously research director at WGN, will help Tribune’s 23 television stations share research.

Bam! Or should that be "band!" Saxophonist Dave Koz has been named bandleader for the upcoming “Emeril Lagasse Show,” which premieres on ION on April 18. Koz has been nominated for six Grammys and hosts the syndicated “Dave Koz Radio Show.”

Rob Morrow could be heading to ABC. The actor has joined the network’s drama pilot “The Whole Truth,” where he will play a defense attorney. Morrow will only join the project if his current show, CBS’s “Numb3rs,” isn’t renewed.

ABC has added Tom Cavanagh to its drama pilot “Edgar Floats,” where he’ll play a police psychologist who also works as a bounty hunter. Cavanagh’s previous TV shows include “Ed,” “Love Monkey” and “Trust Me.”

Hello, Ms. Governor: Actress Jean Smart has joined the cast of CBS’s “Hawaii Five-O” remake, playing Hawaii Gov. Pat Jameson. Smart most recently appeared on ABC’s “Samantha Who?,” and before that had a role on Fox’s “24.”



Initiative has taken Eric Bader. The media agency has named Bader worldwide chief strategy officer, a new position. Bader had been president at mobile marketing agency BrandInHand.

Call it a new strategy for MediaCom. The planning and buying agency has named Sarah Leach managing partner and director of strategy in the U.S., a new position. Leach previously had a management role in MediaCom’s South African office.

Anne-Marie Schaffer has been named executive vice president of PHD West, as well as managing director of the agency’s Los Angeles and San Francisco offices. Schaffer joins from the agency Ignited, and before that she was at Mediaedge:cia.
