OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network has named Christina Norman chief executive officer. Norman was previously president at MTV.
The Tennis Channel has signed on former pro Jimmy Connors for this year’s U.S. Open coverage, which begins on Sept. 1. Connors will be the network’s lead in-booth analyst during its coverage.
Spike TV has signed on former NFL star Michael Strahan and football journalist Jay Glazer to host the upcoming fourth season of “Pros vs. Joes,” which begins production in February. The eight-episode season will again feature former pro athletes facing off against regular guys.
Actress Ellen Barkin has signed on with HBO to star in and executive produce an untitled half-hour pilot. The show will follow a newly divorced woman who becomes close to her ex-husband’s son.
Herm Edwards, former head coach for the Kansas City Chiefs and New York Jets, has signed with ESPN as a studio analyst. Edwards will begin his duties in February, appearing on “NFL Live,” “SportsCenter,” ESPNNews and ESPN Radio.
Russell Simmons has become editor in chief at Global Grind, a social network and blog site that targets the hip-hop community. Simmons is co-founder of Def Jam Recordings.
Katz Advantage, a part of Katz Media Group, has opened new offices in Dallas, Detroit and Minneapolis, naming three office managers: Mike Krejci in Dallas, Bill Klotz in Detroit and Bob Ruhland in Minneapolis. Krejci had been senior account executive for Clear Channel Radio Sales, while Klotz was director of sales for Clear Channel Radio Sales and Ruhland was director of marketing at Treasure Island Resorts and Casino.
Tom Kemp has been named chief executive officer at Northstar Travel Media, which publishes Travel Weekly magazine. Kemp was previously chief executive officer at Penton and before that was managing director at Veronis Suhler Stevenson.
“The View’s” Elisabeth Hasselbeck is pregnant with her third child, confirming the news yesterday on the ABC talk show. Hasselbeck, who is married to former NFL quarterback Tim Hasselbeck, is due in August.
Arnold Worldwide has made two promotions, moving Roger Baldacci to executive creative director and Wade Devers to head of art. Baldacci had been a creative director, while Devers was executive creative director.
Omnicom digital agency Critical Mass has named Cameron Bedford senior vice president and general manager, working out of the company’s Toronto office. Bedford was previously vice president and general manager at Fjord Interactive Marketing + Technology.
OgilvyAction, an agency that targets shoppers, has named Colin Glaum executive creative director for North America, effective immediately. Glaum joins from Rapp Collins, where he was also executive creative director.
Meredith Ball has been named director of print services at David&Goliath, a Los Angeles-base agency. Ball was most recently print service manager at BBDO West in Los Angeles.
