Gospel Music Channel has hired Matt Turner as vice president of Eastern region ad sales. Turner had previously been director of Eastern region ad sales for ABC Radio's Radio Disney Network and also served as vice president of national ad sales and business development at Fox from 1999-2001.
Turner has hired Brenda Freeman as chief marketing officer for its animation, young adults and kids media unit. Freeman will head up all areas of marketing, on-air and trade creative services for Cartoon Network, Adult Swim and Boomerang. Freeman joins from Nickelodeon and MTVN Kids, where she had been senior vice president of integrated marketing.
Nickelodeon and MTVN Kids has promoted Samantha Maltin to senior vice president of integrated marketing and partnerships, where she will oversee the expansion and execution of all promotions marketing efforts. Maltin, who was most recently vice president of Viacom brand solutions, has been with MTV Networks for 10 years.
Search and advertising solutions company Medio Systems has hired Eugene M. Kuerner and Cheryl Scott as vice president of engineering and vice president of carrier deployments, respectively. Kuerner was previously general manager at Microsoft, while Scott had been a consultant to Universal Electronics.

CNN.com has added Naamua Delaney to its team of online anchors, where she will anchor news reports and breaking news coverage in the afternoon and evening hours. Delaney was most recently a host of NBC's "iVillage Live."
Westwood One has named Thomas Beusse president and chief executive, as well as adding him to the board of directors. Beusse was previously president of Time Warner's Time4 Media.

Former Wenner Media executive and current Quadrangle Group head Kent Brownridge has made his second major hire from his old employer. Quadrangle has wooed Rolling Stone’s Joe Levy to become editor in chief of Blender, replacing Craig Marks. Levy’s defection, reported by the New York Post’s Keith Kelly, follows Men's Journal editor Jim Kaminsky’s hiring as the new Maxim editorial director.
Time has named Janet Tipton corporate sales director at its corporate sales & marketing division. She was previously an account manager at Cottage Living.
Success magazine has hired Lisa Ocker as an editor and Sandra Bienkowski as managing editor. Ocker joins from Florida's Boca Raton, where she was editor for six years. Bienkowski was most recently editor of Home Health Products and managing editor of Mobility Management.
Gilbert A. Harrison, a former publisher of The New Republic, died last week of heart failure at the age of 92. Harrison was the owner and editor of the political and cultural opinion journal from 1953 to 1974, when he sold the magazine to Martin Peretz.
Future US has appointed Christopher Campana marketing manager for its music division. He will now oversee marketing efforts for the Guitar World and Revolver magazines, and their associated properties.
