David Letterman has lost the beard he grew during his long hiatus forced by the writers' strike, getting it shaved while on the air on last night’s "Late Show" on CBS. Guest Tom Hanks brought the comedian an appropriate gift, a first aid kit for a cut incurred while shaving the beard. Letterman had kept the beard for a few days on-air as a symbol of support for the writers.
