A&E has upped Robert Sharenow to senior vice president of non-fiction and alternative programming. Reporting to executive vice president and general manager Bob DeBitetto, Sharenow will oversee the non-fiction programming and development groups as well as creation of all non-fiction programming for the network.

MTV Networks International has added some new faces in its Viacom Brand Solutions Global division, hiring Mark Jones as vice president of multiplatform marketing and advertising agreements and Samantha Maltin as vice president of global partnerships with U.S.-based firms. MTV has also promoted Eva Hiltner to vice president, responsible for Viacom Brand Solutions Global's client service.


Herb Scannell, the former MTV Networks vice chairman, has become CEO at Next New Networks. The new media company will work to facilitate video, web sites and content for a number of online communities. Scannell is a co-founder of the company along with founder of Frederator Studios Fred Seibert, VOD Cars podcast creator Emil Rensing, former Sundance Group COO Jed Simmons, and Proteus co-founder Tim Shey.

Google has hired Michael Steib to lead a new ad sales team under Google advertising sales head Tim Armstrong. Steib had worked with NBC Universal in September to create the National Broadband Company to develop video programming on the internet in competition with Google.

The advertising sales branch of Comcast Cable, Comcast Spotlight, has hired Adrienne Skinner as vice president of online strategic sales. In this new role, Skinner will head up the online sales business for the company.

Super Deluxe, a new broadband comedy network from Turner Broadcasting, has named Zena Tsarfin managing editor. Previously, Tsarfin had been managing editor at High Times.




First Look Television has named Kimberly P. Sterton vice president of domestic television sales. In this new role, Sterton will oversee and manage U.S. syndication sales.

Usually members of the Oprah Winfrey Show audience are happy people, apt to receive cars or other products. But not Tayna Milner. She is suing Oprah Winfrey's studio, saying that she was hurt during a taping of the syndicated talk show. Milner claims she was pushed down the stairs during a rush from the waiting area to the audience seating, saying the studio did not properly control the crowd. Milner is seeking more than $50,000 in damages.

Tiffani Thiessen has joined the regular cast of ABC's drama "What About Brian?" Thiessen, who was formerly a regular on "Beverly Hills 90210" and made appearances in "Just Shoot Me," will be playing the new boss at KC Gaming.

ABC's "Brothers & Sisters" will be hanging onto Rob Lowe for a while, according to Variety. His run as Sen. Robert McCallister, and Calista Flockhart's love interest, will continue at least through to the end of the season.


The New York Times has upped Bruce Headlam to media and marketing editor, continuing to oversee the Monday section of Business Day as well. Headlam has headed up the Monday section for the past several years, working with the previous media and marketing editor, Jon Elsen.


Goodman Media International has upped Adriana Ruiz to senior account executive, working with television, entertainment and publishing accounts. Previously, Ruiz had helped launch Meredith Corporations first Spanish-language monthly lifestyle magazine, Siempre Mujer. She joined Goodman Media in 2004.


After just six months of marriage, Emilie de Ravin of hit ABC show "Lost" and husband Josh Janowicz have separated. Ravin and Janowicz met in 2000 and dated for several years before getting engaged early in 2005 and married in Australia on June 19. No statement has been made about what led to the breakup.
